Converted fine--->but what to do about snapback tags??

Hey all,

I converted just fine from my Invision Power Board to SMF, but IPB has these [snapback] [/snapback] tags that go in people's quotes, and there obviously is no such tags in SMF........so how can I get rid of these annoying snapback tags in all these posts?
I guess a better question is:
How do I manually make the snapback bbcode, so that it will display blank space instead of displaying the snapback tags? 


P.S.  I'm running version 1.1 RC2, and the fastparser code is not compatible.....

Well...........nine pages of that thread, and no snapback tags.  To top it off, that mod isn't even compatible with 1.1 RC2 yet........nor is the fast parser mod prerequisite...so I cannot use that mod.  Not your fault, I know.   

Hey, I wonder if there is a way that anybody knows about to ditch all the snapback tag references back in IPB, before I do the conversion to SMF?  Then I wouldn't be importing a problem.  I really don't care at all about making extra custom tags; I want to just get rid of these meaningless snapback tags in SMF, so whatever's clever....

I have seen snapback tags before but could you please refresh my memory about what they do?

If they are not vital they could probably be removed with an SQL query

Thanks for the reply huwnet....To answer your question, the snapback tags are located at the bottom of every quote in Invision Power Board. What it does is give you a little icon to click back to the original post being quoted.  If there's a 15 page thread and you see somebody quoted toward the end, it's hard to tell exactly where in the huge line that quote came from.  Well, it's the post ID (I guess) stuck in between the snapback tags, like this for example:

When posted, A small icon shows up there and you click it, and it takes you to the person's original post from the quote.
The bbcode that makes it looks like this on IPB:

I have no idea which file to modify, or where........

I like your idea about the query removing all the snapback tags, but would it remove the post IDs in between those tags as well?  As of right now, every single quote on my board has the snapback tags visible, so I'm really hoping that somebody could assist me in getting this thing incorporated with SMF.....I'd surely appreciate it!!

I would think it is possible to remove them with a query although I am not sure.

Hopefully someone more talented with MySQL will be able to come along and give you the query or say it isn't possible
