SMF Version: SMF 1.0.6
after seeing my phpbbforum get hacked, i decided to switch, but i encountered some problems during the installation of my smfforum.. I tried my best to look it up on FAQ's, or websites concerning the topics, but really.. when it comes to mySQL.. i'm clueless...

so i figured my best shot was to just post screenshots from the installer, and a screenshot from my host's control panel.. i just don't know what user to make, what i should fill out where...

oh yeah, i forgot, my installer is in dutch, so in case there's problems, it just says:
mysql: servername
username
password
database name
table prefix..

the other screenshot is the control panel my host has..cpanel.. i guess i should fill out something in there, and then fill out that in the install page, but i really don't know what to do there..
any help?

Try this:
servername: localhost
username: zeescout_forum
password: <password>
database name: zeescout_newforum
table prefix: smf_

Thanks for the very fast reply!
but unfortunately:
Kan geen verbinding maken met de MySQL-database met deze gegevens.

Als je niet weet welke gegevens je moet ingeven, neem dan contact op met je host.
Access denied for user: 'zeescout_forum@localhost' (Using password: YES)

which translates into:

"cannot connect to the MySQL-database with this data.
contact your host..."

hrm....

Was the phpBB forum on the same host? What information did you use for it?

i actually do not know what i used then.
The Cpanel has this easy-install function, where i just fill in a forum name, location and my account details and it creates the databases and users...

but for some reason the easy-create thingy doesn't work anymore (it says it makes a forum, but it doesnt...). i had to take the old phpbb down because it was hacked, and in an attempt to restore it i also deleted the old mySQL users..

edit: oh yeah, and in the screenshot i noticed the user "zeescout_forum" wasn't added to the database "zeescout_newforum", so i did that.. but to no avail..

From what you have posted it looks like the MySQL password is wrong. I would re-check your MySQL username and password you are attempting to use to complete the install for this.
