Weird Log-In Problem

My members are reporting being logged out of Joomla when logging into smf, and vice versa, it does not happen to me, using IE7 (eek)  but for them it will keep them logged in after eventual log-ins back and forth.  I have noticed that after a short time, of inactivity, I am logged out of Joomla, but not SMF.

installed:
    Joomla 1.0.10
    SMF 1.1RC2
    Bridge 1.1.4
    1.0.9 hack applied
    Joomla Registration

I am getting an error in the forum error log of:        8: Undefined variable: context
File: /home/*******/public_html/modules/mod_smo_ajax_shoutbox.php
Line: 456

I am not sure if the smo ajax shoutbox is causing the problems or not. I have been searching for a week and did a fresh reinstall of everything and still having the same problem.

I would not be posting if I had not exausted my trying to fix it on my own, and want to Praise Orstio and Kindred for their dedicated apparently 24/7 help they give out and their patience with the How do I questions.  Excellent Job!!!

Could that be the cause of the Log-In Issues? and I am just learning all of this, "conflicting variable name" is like speaking in martian! lol

Yes, $context is a very important variable in SMF.  If a Joomla module uses it for something else, you're going to have problems.

Is the fix to get rid of the smo ajax shoutboard, is there another fix? Is there another chatboard that is compatable?
