SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC1
I need all those elements upgraded from SMF 1.1.RC1, Joomla 1.0.3, Coppermine 1.3.5 using Orstio bridges.

Of course I'm terrified to do it - I can just see the entire thing falling apart.  :-[

Is the following an option?  Setting everything up first:  newest SMF, newest Joomla, newest Coppermine and then populating the new fully functioning website with the data from an existing database  (I have all three now on the same database)

Or do I need to upgrade the existing elements one by one?

no... doing the setup and mvoe is a good way to screw things up beyond repair.

1- take a backup of your site and database(s).
2- Uninstall your bridge in joomla (com_smf, com_smf_registration, mod_smf_login)
3- Upgrade joomla per the joomla instructions.
(i.e. overwrite all joomla files with the new version)
4- Upgrade SMF per the SMF instructions
(use the update package, upload/overwrite all files, then run upgrade.php)
5- install the 1.1.5a smf-joomla bridge
6- configure the smf bridge.

Thank you kindly.  I'm glad I asked.

Will try on the weekend.

I have to refresh my skills as I don't even remember how I integrated Coppermine into SMF.
