What action is supposed to activate the Ajax loading indicator.  Is it the red bar that now appears when forum maintenance is being done, etc.?

I have no Idea. They claim that you have to update index.template, script.js and style.css, but none of that works. The language files are supposedly updated with the rest of the files. (or gave an illusion of it)

Dannii

You should get the indicator when editing a post inline, like in this forum for example.
"Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what it might appear to others that what you were or might have been was not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to them to be otherwise."

Pink Bee

I can't seem to upload 1.1RC3. It says the file is corrupted.

My version:
QuoteSMF Package - SMF 1.1 RC2
Sources - 1.1 RC2
Default Templates - 1.1 RC2
Language Files - 1.0
Current Templates - 1.1 RC2

Dannii

It is not a package. Please read the OM instructs for how to upgrade your forum.

phpchris

Hmm... still no Ajax for me...
Neither on my board, nor on this board in both browsers...
Where is it supposed to be?

Dannii

At the top of your window when you click on the buttons.
Are you getting any JS errors?

Can this CAPTCHA registration option be disabled?
I use SMF in my LAN where I auto-register based on their LAN Domain usernames and will not be able to do so with this enabled by default :(

<edit>Ok saw the option. don't know how I missed it in the first place :)</edit>
The problem is choice

Are you getting any JS errors?

No, on neither of the boards again with both browsers...

Nice one guys, although a bit of constructive crit really...

I have a large board thats very popular, around 15 new signups per day at the moment (www.ClubCalibra.com) and any downtime is detrimental to the growth of the site.

I can duplicate the site and attempt an upgrade on the mirror site but its a frustrating having to uninstall all mods, and reinstall within the new version, hoping that they'll be compatible with the RC3 version!

A suggestion to the developers, create a new type of mod thats 'modular', i.e. instead of 'applying a modification' that alters existing core pages, the mod's are independent and can simply be placed within the sites structure (/mods/Guestbook/) and the site picks up the script and allows you to place it within designated placement areas (could be infinite amounts of these, or the option for the users to hardcode new placement designators).

Such implementation would mean that upgrades etc wouldn't affect installed mods, would be heaven to administrators of busy sites such as mine!

Many thanks,

Some of us have far larger boards... and we can and do upgrade just fine.. ;) I wish we only got 15 signups per day... we're over 140 per day now, with 1100 posts per day...

But my point is that I think the modification system could be better coded, I don't believe that modifications should be changing core 'system' files - it means the mods are controlling the forum whereas the forum should be controlling the mods else you begin to lose integrity.

I hear you, but if you want a mod that adds core functions, well, it will mod core files... a bit of a catch-22

In any case, this is a must security upgrade... so... just do it! 8)

Not necessarily, PHP Nuke manages to achieve such simply by dumping a directory into the Blocks folder - including pretty sophisticated modifications and integrations with other PHP applications.

I'll be setting up a test board, its just frustrating having to reinstall all mods, especially when we've modified some mods post-install to better suit them to our forum!
