When I heard the news of SMF I was excited, then learned that YabbSE was going to close I was annoyed.

I have spent many an hour learning how to change the code, and almost WEEKLY, refer to http://www.yabbse.org/community/index.php for advice and insperation.

All the mods I applied, taking me months and months of reading and learning, now to be discontinued or no longer supported by members.  A tear appeared in my little eye.

Then behold, SMF release the beta, I do a fresh install, it rocks, do a test upgrade, it rocks more!  The potential is unmeasurable of this fine forum structure.  SMF has MORE than I need as far as 'mods'  I applied to YabbSE.  It really looks amazing, congratulations to all concerened.

I am tempted to grit my teeth and just go for the upgrade on my live site but caution and Patience I must keep (for now).

I am a creature of habit, I drive old cars, drink the same beer as I have done for eons and always speak in "I remember when" terms.  Now it seems SMF really IS the new generation of forums and move forward I will with a smile, however, I am keeping a YabbSE somewhere like a favorite toy from the past.

glad you like it! :)
I am to am in a state of immense joy :D
SMF does have many 'mods' now built as extremely fast features... but its also worth noting that if you ever do decide you'd like some extra functionality there will probably be a mod waiting or a modder wanting to do it... and a newer, better way to install em too ^^
have fun!! :D

And once the mod site and the package manager are finnished, installing mods will be as simple as counting to 10 ;D
