Table 'myname_smf1.smf_settings' doesn't exist

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.7
That's what I'm getting after a switch from one host to another - AND, the backup doesn't have the missing table either.  What is this table, where did it go, how do I fix this?

Looks like the backup wasn't complete. You're missing members, posts..  If you can't access your other database anymore, there's not much to do about it.

Ok - a friend of mine helped me create another backup from the old files, my server hosts did another server restore.  Now I have lots more tables, but am still missing the main one:

Is there some other way, other than doing a cPanel backup, to get the files? I no longer trust that the cPanel backup is actually working.

You can backup  the database using SMF's  Forum Maintenance section in your admin section on your forum.

Yeah - well the forum is already gone, thanks to the transfer effort. Or, are you suggesting that by pointing to the IP address of the old server I should see my original site?

I'm in the original cPanel for the original host, and for the life of me - I can't find the missing file there either, which would explain why it keeps not transferring!  What's up with that? Where would I see the tables that are missing?
