I have the favicon working in Opera and I believe IE (I can't test ie) by placing it in /public_html/

But it seems that no matter where else I put the favicon that firefox doesn't see it.

Can anyone tell me where they have theirs that DOES work with firefox? I did a search and tried various locations mentioned but no joy.

just clear the firefox cache and you should see it when you will restart firefox

I've run into the same problem with both Firefox and the new Internet Explorer 7 (IE6 has a known fault that prevents favicons being displayed in any circumstance).  Following the advice in the various favicon threads on this forum, I've placed the favicon.ico image file in every directory I could think of, including public.html, and no matter where I place that image file, it shows up in neither Firefox nor IE7.

Any informed suggestions welcome.

When you place the file you need to empty your cache and do a force fresh (Ctrl+f5 in firefox).

This way Firefox gets the new favicon otherwise it uses the default.
