"An Error Has Occurred!
The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF."

Could it be just an temporary error of the file? Should I wait a bit instead o manually upgrading?

molul

If it helps, with the ".tar.gz" file I receive an error message of file corrupted, but not with the ".zip" one.

scottws

Yeah I feel like something is wrong with the package that's out there for auto-download. I had the same trouble with it on both of my forums.

People were blaming it on mods installed but that doesn't explain why my board with zero mods said the same thing or why it worked fine if I uploaded the one from the release announcement in the news forum.

I think the package that's out there is just corrupt.

Well the upgrade worked fine on my site despite the fact that I have 185 mods installed!
All I did was create a dir "temp" in the packages folder and chmodded to 777!

What is chmod?

i had the same issue too. What I ended up doing was just unzipping the file into a folder and then transferring all the new files into my public_HTML folder.

It's an issue that happens sometimes when using the crc32() PHP function on 64-bit systems. SMF versions up to and including 1.1.4 use crc32() to verify the integrity of a .tar.gz package (but not for .zip packages). The SMF 1.1.5 update introduces a workaround that solves the issue.

We have replaced the link for the .tar.gz patch with a link for the .zip version. For the moment, the Package Manager section still shows the link for the .tar.gz package, so be sure to use the link from the main admin area (index.php?action=admin).

molul_audionautas.net, have you managed to finish the update?

That might have explained why my production forum didn't work, since it's hosted on a x64 system, but my test forum with zero mods is on a x86 system and it failed there too.  Strange.

molul

Sorry for not replying before (I've been very busy). Yes, I could update the Audionautas forum using the zip file (the one I said it worked in my second post), but I had a lot of problems with another one I manage (the one of my company), receiving an error message like "some files are out of date", and I overwrote all the files three times. The funny thing is that, when I deleted the "upgrade.php" file (for no reason, just trying desperately any solution), this second forum was magically updated O_O

Anyway, thank you all for your replies, and sorry again for not replying before. By the way, congratulations for the 1.1.5 :D

See you!

scottws, try downloading the patch file and uploading it to Package Manager. Try the .zip package if the .tar.gz doesn't work.

If that fails, create a directory named temp inside the Packages directory, chmod both directories to 777 (or 755 if PHP is running as CGI) and try again. If that fails too, decompress the patch package contents into the temp directory and visit Package Manager again.

I was able to get it installed a few days ago using the package that is  linked at the bottom of  the release announcement.  I was just talking about it here to reinforce the idea that the package linked to the admin panel clearly has an issue.

It shouldn't have an issue anymore. Both the update notification in the main admin area and the one in Package Manager now pull the .zip package instead of the .tar.gz one.
