First of all sorry if I posted this in the wrong section, I tried to find a better one but I couldn't.
Anyway my questions:

1. I have a free smf forums. Is it possible to upgrade it & pay for?
And is it possible to change the url?
& how?

2. Can I buy a free smf forum? Without buying a website first.
I know that godaddy has smf forums when you buy a website.
Are there any other places?

Thanks for your time & help.

smf is free, therefore you do not have to pay for it.
if you feel the need to pay for smf, become a charter member.

if you want total control over your forum, buy a domain name and get hosting.
doing that is a whole new subject and a searchable one at that.
keep smiling, they'll always wonder what your up too.....

1. I'll assume you have SMF with a free hosting service?  The ability to gain full control over the current forum you have will have to be taken up with the service you are using.  But yes SMF as a software package is fully FREE.

To change the current URL you have will depend on the service you are using.  If it's a FREE service then most likely not.  Which will bring to question 2.

2. You don't buy SMF, you acquire a hosting service to host the PHP and database online for people to access.  You can even run it on a home WAMP service if you want to test out things.  There are a few FREE SMF services out there, but they can be limited in what you can do.
