1- this must be an ancient post, since we are now up to 2.0.4
2- no sub-version release of SMF will ever have new features. subversions are always security and bug fixers, never functionality adds.
3- you can already control access to the calendar by membergroup.  You can not, and never have been able to, control access to individual events.....   although, IN THEORY (untested) an event that is linked to a post in a board that only one membergroup can read MAY be visible to only that group.
