Advice Requested

This is my new forum ...........   http://hellhound.org/simplemachinesforum/index  ..........  I still have to modify the theme so don't worry about that just now.

There are many survival forums on the www but not many with "on site" downloadable information.......mostly just links to other sites..........like everyone else, I want my site to be the best so, how would you suggest I promote it to be the 1'st choice for survival information??....

Sounds like a fun topic to start a forum around.  I used to watch Survival stuff on the discovery channel, it had lots of tips for surviving.  As for how to promote it, I really don't have any advice.  I'm still trying to figure out promoting myself.

Word of mouth is always good, another way is to get other survival sights to add your site to links

First of all I would delete the webinstall script and the install directory
To be honest I don't know much about survival.
But aren't there any myspace groups, google groups, whatever you about it where you can advertise it (just don't spam).

You can also try to find sites (or online shop) about survival and do a link exchange.
But before you can promote it, you have to build good content.
Try to write a few articles (or survival guides or something like that) and put them on your forum (and article directories).
