I am getting a syntax error "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ')' in /var/www/codewalr.us/Sources/Load.php on line 2999" when attempting to upgrade after uploading all the files properly. I tried with the large upgrade and full install and both set of files give me the same error. Php version is 7.2.9. Mods were installed but I don't understand how such error happens considering mods are uninstalled when uploading new files.

The same error happens on a second different forum install as well.

I still get the same exact error after removing the comma as described on Github. I'll see if I can get my hosting provider to upgrade to PHP 7.3 later.

EDIT: Not upgraded yet to 7.3 but I tried downloading an already modified copy of load.php from Github to make sure I didn't do a typo and I still got the syntax error with no error change. I made sure uploading via Filezilla is working and there's no error and I didn't change any Filezilla setting so I don't understand why online load.php doesn't update.

Try your hosting control panel if you can. Delete the original, upload the edited one in it's place.
I have seen situations where uploading through FTP seemingly works, but never actually goes through.

Yeah I now deleted the file then re-uploaded it and now it works. Thanks for helping!

2.1.1 addresses this, and upgrading to 2.1.1 directly should now work if it failed with 2.1.0.
