I think I did something that I was not supposed to do.

Hello All,

I also updated to SMF 1.5 Beta from SMF 1.4.1 and it worked fine. However, when looking through the settings to see what was new etc. I think I must have clicked something that was not ment to be clicked. Only thing is I don't know what I've clicked. I did not want to change anything anyhow.

Now my board isn't showing up anymore. I got a "Page not found" from the browser. Neither can I access any other board page. All give the same page not found error. When I look on the site with a FTP program, all files are there.

I thought it was a setup problem, and did the update again. The update again was succesfull but to no avail.

Is there a way to find out what is going wrong? Ofcourse after the second update my backup files in Mysql database are overwritten. Yes I know  :-[

How can I put the board back on whithout having to start all over again? The server is running Apache and PhP 4.3.2

If more info needed, please ask.

Hope someone is able to help. Anyway, thanks in advance,

Martin

Can you give a URL?

Have you tried the repair_settings.php on this page?

There is no 1.5 Beta, nor has even 1.0 been released yet.  Sorry, this is just a pet peeve of mine - it's a beta version OF 1.0, not yet even 1.0.  Meaning 1.0 Beta 5.

Hi Unknown,

Sorry about the version numbers. Never was good with numbers.  :)

I have tried your suggestion with the repair_settings. Got a lot of errors though.

I got some suggestions after these messages, and accepted and saved those, but again to no avail.

The url of the board is hxxp:www.vinifrance.nl/yabbse/index.php [nonactive] but all you will see is "Page not found"

Even my host looked at the files but couldn't find any problems.

On the main site I got some lines through SSI and these seem to work. A few times I clicked on the line "Total number of members ..." and it connect me to the members list, but not always. From this list I click Administration and again I got a page not found message. I am getting desperate now.

Hmm, I'm surprised repair_settings.php is giving those errors, but...

Well something is very strange here. I found out that only registered people have this problem. Everyone else seems to see the forum. So i thought it was a cookie problem and deleted those, so I would get a new one. Still nothing.

And yes Unknown, I know the lines on the homepage work fine. I said that in the message before. That is what makes it so strange.

I really don't know what has happened here. It worked fine for years till the last update. I've seen it work after the update, that's for sure. Later that day I was getting e-mails from registered people that they couldn't connect. I checked but was unable to access the whole board. Still can't.

I would like to but i can't access the board. I can try to insert it in the database direct. Will let you know in a few seconds.

O.k. Insert a name and pasword for you. Unknown, Unknown. Original isn't it. Hope it works.

Gebruikersnaam niet correct

Your server is gagging and choking on me, who is your host?

-[Unknown]

RainbowRising

Well I don't think you know them because it's a Dutch Host. AGN
I put the name and pasword in the database directly. It's in the file Yabbse_members. This is the good one right?
I only put in a new number and a name and pasword. Left all the other fields as they were.

[Unknown]

The passwords aren't stored in clear text..... so I won't be able to login with that.

I can't access it now, though... weird.  I'm not even logged in.

Hearing that from your mouth, makes me even more scared. What should I do? I don't want to do it all over again.
But as it sounds now, I don't think there's another solution.  :'(

I can pm you my login details if that is possible for you?

Let me know if so and I'll send them to you. However I'm afraid that login in is somehow impossible. But maybe miracles still happen.

[Unknown]

If you can send me FTP and phpmyadmin information I can mess with it for you.

RainbowRising

O.k. Unknown.

The info should be in your inbox now. Hope you can find anything.

[Unknown]

Fixed... it had to do with something screwy in your PHP version :P.  I recommend you try to get your host to upgrade.

RainbowRising

Don't know what to say. This is great. I can ask for details on the problem, but I'm afraid I wouldn't understand the answer.

Well thank you very much for the time you invested in this. Above expectations.
I will ask the host to upgrade their php version as you suggested. I will mention them that the expert fixed the problem and mentioned that.

Again, thank you very much.
