move from phpbb to smf question

do you have to have an empty forum in SMF to move the topics from PHPBB to SMF?

OR can there be existing topics in the SMF forum you want to move the phpbb topics to?

For the converter the forum must be empty. In theory it would be possible to add to an existing database but you would have to code it yourself and it would become a LOT more complicated!
