When I'm replying to a post using the Quick-Reply box, I'm getting the

"You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh. "

messages.... this happens nearly every time... and is really annoying....

To me it has given after the preview of a IM !
It happened one time yesterday or two days ago.  I tried to send a PM to Grudge, and I got this error after previewing.  Just recopied the message and restarted a new PM ;)  I was under WinXP IE 6-SP1.

Sorry for the bump - this has now been happening to me, after we installed SMF 1.0 on our server.

I've been getting this errors lots on my forums since upgrading, as have a few other members..

Are you browsing in multiple tabs?  Is your forum loading slowly?

I've encountered the same problem today a couple of times :(

I also get this error here some times.
I am using multiple tab browsing

Trekkie101

goto my forum all my members get it nearly every post using Quick Reply, all Firefox users and it happens only with quick reply though.

Slash

Same with my hxxp:forum.redbulladdict.com [nonactive]. Reported by multiple users, running a variety of browsers including Firefox and MyIE.

Just started getting the error this evening, and it only applies to quick reply submissions. (so far)

Oh... and I've also forced the quick reply box to be shown at all times.

EDIT: I've been testing this a bit. I've found that I can use the quick reply box once, and have to restart Firefox to use it again. Doesn't seem to matter if i'm replying in the same thread or not. Having multiple tabs open does not seem to affect this.

Your Display templates are old if it's happening to you like described.

I'm running a fresh install of SMF 1.0. Is it still possible to have an out-of-date version?

The "Shadow" theme may have out-of-date templates, possibly.  I don't really know.

Does it happen with the default theme?

Same error.

[Unknown]

The quick reply has no sequence number, only the full post reply page.

It works for me, are you sure you haven't made any changes to Display.php or any other source files?

Only what Oldiesmann said to do in this thread.

[Unknown]

No, that's causing the problem because it's not really enabled.

You should go to Admin -> Current Theme's Settings -> Reset -> turn on quick reply, then go back to Current Theme's Settings -> Defaults.

Wow. That did it. Thank you again, Unknown. If you're ever in Toronto (once I'm legal age  ;)), I owe you a beer.

I don't know if it's Quick Reply only; I haven't been using regular reply. I have not been using multiple tabs because I'm using IE, but I have been using multiple windows.

[Unknown]

The problem is caused by loading two windows at the same time.  Essentially, it's this:

--- Page #1 loading --->
           --- Page #2 loading --->

(a grade school race condition)

See, page 1 starts loading, gets ready for everything, etc... and, then, by the time it's finished page 2 has already picked up the ball - problem is, page 2 doesn't know about what page 1 changed, so it unchanges it.

Goosemoose

Im getting it too, never got it before. Other users are getting it, even in safari with no tabs. I never had quick reply on. Just turned it on and tried suggestions mentioned above but it is still happening. My template has not been modified since RC2, is there anything I need to change that could be causing this?

[Unknown]

Does it happen with the bridge only or without the bridge only or with both?

-[Unknown]

Goosemoose

Everyone on the forum is forced to use the bridge only. I'd have to it up so a few people could test it without the bridge.

[Unknown]

I'm worried this is probably a problem with integration - have you tried turning off database-driven sessions?

-[Unknown]

Goosemoose

I am using database driven sessions, should I turn it off? Also, I had a few people test the version without mambo and they didn't have the problem. BUT , they only posted a few times and it's really a random problem so it's hard to say for sure. Any other ideas? My members are complaining.

[Unknown]

Yes, you have to have it off for Mambo integration to work properly.

Ok im using joomla-smf bridge and i get this same error msg most of the time

smf version is smf 1.1 rc1

Its so painful lately. any help?

TheMaTrIx

I fixed this by omitting the double post checking :p

I rather have my mods remove a double post (which hasn't happen even 1ce in over a month of operation with SMF) then having a funky system give false positives all the time. Which it did for every few posts made when it was still default.

Strolen

I have been getting this error since I installed  RC1 and when I upgraded to RC2  it is still there.(hxxp:www.strolen.com/guild/ [nonactive]).

Doesn't matter what browser or what network I use. Opera, mozilla, firebird, MSIE.... At work and at home. At work the error happens every time, not sure if the proxy is a factor. At home only occassionally. At work I never use multiple browser windows, at home I always do. I am using the smf_api on the rest of my site.

The work around I have done that works every time is (whether it is a quick reply or going to the reply screen) if I do a preview and then send it, it works fine. If I do the quick reply, do preview, I must do preview again from the main reply screen and then it takes. If I don't do the preview I can click Post and Back forever and I continue to get the error.

Granted, I just found this thread so I haven't tried any of the fixes, so will see how that works out tonight. Figure I would mention my experience.

Hula

We omitted the double post checking code and this fixed itself as well.

Funny because it was working great until yesterday and although we moved posts from another site there's not much else we did. Then suddenly after 1 post both of us testing got that errror.

Anyway all is working - thanks for the fix.

sdat1333

Does somebody mind telling me how to omit the double post code?
What file is it in?
Line numbers?

EDIT: Nvm I found it

For those that are wondering, its line 1507 of post.php (thats what it is for me anyways)
Just comment out the part that says:
checkSubmitOnce('check');

It happens to me on a cvs version of RC3 as well :(
gog what is the date on the CVS?  IIRC this was fixed after the latest CVS given to the internationalization testers.

gog

Yes, I have that "internationalization testers" edition. Nice news :)

Skipdawg

Glad you all mentioned that. I was about to ask were they were hiding the RC3 update lol  8) ;D ;)
