Tagging Messages / assign them to spam, offtopic and so on

There is one feature I can not understand why no one thinks about it: tagging messages.

Everyone knows the main problem in boards: offtopic and spam.
So why not make it possible to simply tag a message (for example the thread owner could do this) with a preset of tags: ontopic, offtopic, spam

When other users view this thread they could decide to only view ontopic messages. Or view all. Or (yes, there are these people!!) view only spam.

An extended option would be to use a special topic tag which can be namend like you want. As long its ontopic with the original thread, it has no new tag. When it starts a new topic in the thread, the thread owner or the poster declares a new topic tag. Then one could see (best in tree form) which posts belong to which "topic" (in one thread).

Since it is most time not possible to maintain strict discipline this would be SO time saving for people which want to stay ontopic
