Repair_settings.php is not part of the smf install package. You can download it here

http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?topic=663

After moving your smf files from the root directory to the ''forum'' directory in your server, upload the repair_settings.php tool at the ''forum'' directory as well and run it. i.e. point your browser to www.sffq.org/forum/repair_settings.php and click on all the blue recommended values. It will set straight all the urls, paths and the other settings. But make sure to delete it after you are done. Hope this helps

How is it not working. Are you sure you uploaded it to the ROOT of your folder and chmoded it to 777.

How do I use chmod?

But did you move first your smf files from the root directory to the ''forum'' directory? Because you must do this first and then upload repair_settings.php tool to the ''forum'' directory and run it

Mireldar

Yes this is what I do.  I following your instruction, but I can't read noting in my /forum

???

That is strange, that tool has never failed as far as I know. Anyway, I saw that your forum is freshly installed, so why don'''t you delete it from the root directory and simply install it again to the ''forum'' directory. Like this you won''t need to run that tool

Mireldar

Yes I do it twice time.  The problem is I can't install smf on /forum, I can't open the index.php when I'm on the /forum

I can't read noting on the /forum

???

The problem is not the program smf or repair, it's my directory.  How can I fix it?

babjusi

What is the problem with the ''forum'' directory? What error does it give you? Did you first delete smf from the root directory and then install it at the ''forum'' directory? Try to install it in another directory, say ''smf'', without the quotes and see if that would be ok or it will happen the same as with the ''forum'' directory. If that would be the case, then I suggest that you contact your host and ask them why the inex.php file doesn''t get recognised in other directories except the root one.

I'm sorry, i'm find my mystake.  I put the F caps at /Forum  :-[

Don''t worry about it, it can happen to anyone. The most important thing is that you achived what you wanted and that counts

Mireldar

Thank you.  I'm not so stupid finally  :)

Something wrong with my server.  When I install the file on /forum, a error message said

QuoteThe default theme's directory is wrong, please correct it by clicking this text.

I click and notting work, no theme.  But when I install it directly on my root, it's working.

I really don't understand why.

Id doesn''t sound like a server problem to me, but upload the repair_settings.php tool to the directory where your smf files are located and then run it as I have described in my first post above. That should fix that problem

Mireldar

I correct the path and url's with the repair settings, but only the default theme working.  the other themes working on my root, but not in my /SMF.  It's bizarre

Check the other themes paths and make sure they match the defaults with the exception of the folder name. :)

I will stop changing things, and find the source of the problem.

Why did when I make the adresse www.sffq.org/SMF it's write this bizare thing http://www.sffq.org/SMF/index.php?PHPSESSID=4b8b4b9489f5dce0a578f37891d15dbe;www

it's not suppose to.

I have two blogs on my file, and it's working.  Why did de /SMF dont work? I should make a mistake when I install it.  I'm sure is a stupid thing lololol

Mireldar

I find the problem, I'm the stupid things  :)
