I know we have a forum for bugs but I thought it would be cool if there was a public one where we know if the bug has been reported and is being fixed at the time.

But thats not really public like maybe a new setup for the bug tracker would be cool like.

Um it is a public board and it is searchable.

At this time I'm not prepared to throw open the doors to our bugtracker.

shadow82x,

Not to be mean to you or anything. But the bug reports in the Charter member section you have gave us on 2.0 are not really detailed, and required some action to actually figure out what the problem was.
That is one of the reasons why the bug tracker is team only at the moment :P

The "Bug Reports" boards does just fine and when we get people who post support questions we can actually move those to the support boards instead of locking them, as we would have to do in a bug tracker.

The current Bug Report forum works well. There is no need to make a change IMO. Never change a running system.

I prefer the way we currently work. At the moment the public report bugs to the bug board(boards if you count the Charter Member 2.0 one) and then the team adds them to the bug tracker once verified and sufficient information is available. This is a huge help for myself as my free time comes in dribs and drabs so it's much nicer to get online, knock off five bugs, and logoff than spend that time verifying bugs which turn out to be user error after all.
I'm only a half geek really...

There are many posts in Bug Tracker Board and no one knows the Current Status of them.

I think shadow wants to point this! Let the ppl know the status of current bugs!!

Expanding on that I think we should maybe add topic prefixes saying [BUG] [REPORTED] [FIXED] ect. Thats more of what I meant than a public bug tracker.

Well when a bug is fixed,  a post by a developer or team member should be made, and the bug should be moved to Fixed or Bogus Bugs. If we are lagging on doing that I will try to look at it myself and get things updated.

And at this point I really think it is not wise to open up our bug tracker to the public. Most people just don't search, it's that simple. For any one known issue we often get multiple reports, many that are just not clear and coherent enough for the developer to go right in and fix the problem. Not to mention all the reports that are not actual bugs with SMF!

However the team members are willing to go through them and report the accurate ones with the needed info as Grudge said. I personally try to provide a possible fix to help the developers out if just to give them a better idea what the problem is and one way that the bug could be fixed. Plus what SleePy said about the ease of moving bogus bugs to the proper support boards.
