Is there a way to have recent posts on my Joomla using html or php without the bridge? I am trying to integrate them as much as possible without having a bridge.

Divine,

you say that you are a codeing newbie, etc... and yet everything you keep trying to do is not "out of the box". Everything you have been asking about requires yiu to take some initiative and learn some php...

SSI.php is a file that is included with SMF. It allows various fetaures of SMF to be used outside of the actual board.
(try going to your site and running ssi_examples.php)

To do recent posts on a joomla page, you will have to create a joomla module that runs the SSI function ssi_recentPosts();
