???

How many login you think mkportal has?

Mkportal is fully integrated with SMF it use the users tables db of the board the session of the board ecc...

Looks very promising. :) Tested it on my local site first..but somehow the forum won't open inside MKPortal - only outside -  even it I choose "inside" in the CP.  Any ideas why?

luponero

Follow the instructions in readme.txt
You must modify a file of the board to view the forum inside the portal.

Ah...did not read that bit about the ob_exit replacement. Neat solution. :)
Now the forum  works as it should.

One small thing tho...the "set size" option - does it have a value somewhere? or is it fixed to around 800?

Jerry

I would assume its in the theme some where :P but I have not checked. This is a very cool portal system, I am glad you are taking the time to develop it for SMF. One thing I noticed even with english chosen for the language, some elements are still in italian :-\

No no, only the blog templates are in italian because they are not part of mkportal.
They are done by the community.
But you can find the translation in english of the blog templates.
I posted on the site about this.

The titles of the block are not in italian but are language independent.
When you install the portal the titles used the name of the files and it possible that
there are file named in italian.

But the titles of the blocks are only indicatives.
U can change it in PortalCP->Blocks->Position.

Hey thanks for your work on MKPortal and thanks for the Simple Machines Intergration.  :D
All I can say right know is you rock, I am very excited to install MKPortal. MKPortal looks much better than what I was planning on using.  ;)
I have a four day weekend coming up and will be testing all I can on this beta release.  ;D
Thanks again.

Well I was going to install it and check it out. I find one major flaw with the portal though. Let me quote the ReadMe.txt:

QuoteIf you have the board index on your website root you should move it in a subfolder
(as shown in the example above).

That just doesn't fly with me. I have mine as a root for a reason. Could I redirect the root to this subfolder? Sure I could but to me that defeats the purpose. One important thing to me for any kind of software, is it should not force me into a certain way of doing something for no apparent reason. Considering plenty of portals do not force you to use a out of place sub-directory system I do not see this being a valid solution.

Please tell me you have a work around for this because it does look like a good solid portal. I have been waiting for Lunabyte to finish theirs but I have been waiting for them or quite a while now. So I would really like to explore some other solutions. Let me know if you can help me. Thanks.

The fact that the index.php for the portal would overwrite the index.php of the forum and mess up your forum seems the be the apparent reason... well to me anyways ;) :P

Yes, some portals use the index.php of the forum, and some don't...

Mad

Right and the fact that this one conflicts makes it not a wise choice.

I have been playing around with it a bit and seems like a good option of SMF + portal to me. The fact that it must reside in these directories is not that hard to obey...and maybe the author will make it easier. It sure makes it clear where everything must go. ;)

I have never really seen a portal that does not need a seperate directory from your forums :-\ I am sure configuring it to use a subdirectory for the portal and the main directory for the forums shouldn't be too hard. You can easily set a redirect (with htacces on apache servers) to the portal instead of the main directory ;)

Thats not even SMF - and we are talking SMF here?

MKPortal does not contain SMF, just the portal. From what I can see LSP starts from within Yabbse..and thats not the same thing.
