Its nothing with the host. Its our servers.
The devs and admins are looking at it though.

Theres still some database optimizations being done.  You know, the sort of thing that cant be known and worked with until the server is live? ;)

Thanks for the concern though :)

We are having some minor database issues, which are currently being worked on.   It doesn't have anything to do with the datacenter.

Ol' Wombat

Bit more than a minor issue! - I hit frequently just a white page waiting up to 30s for a page to come up

Ol' Wombat

Still alot of forum downtime - today (OZ time zone) hardly up at all!

dschwab9

I'm sorry you guys aren't happy.   It takes time to tweak things and work all the glitches out.

Ol' Wombat

I hope there are no hardware issues..

Trekkie101

I must just be lucky, no downtime so far and

Page created in 0.076 seconds with 12 queries

The hardware is fine.  After the initial downtime and IP change sunday night, we got hit hard with a bunch of search engine bots that slowed us down for 15 hours or so, and revealed some queries and tables having performance issues, which I've been working on off and on.   The downtime earlier was for converting a 8 million row table to a different collation.   There should have been a maintenance mode message stating we were doing database maintenance.

metallica48423

nice work again, derek :)

there was a maint mode message

on the plus side, it lets us see which queries can cause problems and work towards optimizing them as well :)

Yes, that was a ~2-3 hours outage, around midday my local time, showing database maintenance.

However, overall this forum's performance appears to be pretty flakey (for me) sometimes waiting up to 60+ seconds for pages to appear, sometimes pages load blistering fast, it's a constantly drifting up and down in performance. I am typing this very message after waiting 60.xx sec to load this thread even I am in this forum.

Not sure what is going on..you have a dedicated server or run on a shared box?

metallica48423

the problem is with a few select queries which are holding things up.

i can see these from time to time looking at our status.php script.  It is just one of those kinks that need worked out :)

How are things for you guys today?   Did a lot more work on MySQL later last night and I think i'm close to where we need to be now.

metallica48423

seems a bit better other than the downtime about an hour ago here
