View Email Permission Version 2.0

*** For SMF Version 1.1.x ***

This modification hides email addresses due to the permission given for
groups where emails are shown.

Permission is given from

Admin >> Permissions

Group specific permissions can be given.

*** For SMF Version 2.0 Beta 4 ***

This modification hides email addresses due to the permission given for
groups where emails are shown.

Permission is given from

Admin >> Permissions

Group specific permissions can be given.

However, this mod only affects sites that have
Admin >> Security and Moderation >> General >> Allow viewable email addresses check marked.

Both Simple Machines and BK Modding strongly advise enabling "Allow viewable email addresses." as it leaves
your members' email addresses viewable to spammers. This mod can be used to limit that, by making sure
that guests cannot view email addresses, yet some spammers do in fact join forums, in hopes of farming
email addresses from the members.

November 09, 2008: Version 2.0 Changelog:

+ Mod taken over by BK Modding from [SiNaN]

Many thanks to [SiNaN] for making this mod, and letting BK-SMF take over on it. :)

Installed on SMF 1.1.4 / Tinyportal. I see no option to change email viewability and no option to uninstall.

[SiNaN]

Filipina; check whether you have the file ManagePermissions.php file in the Sources directory and you can change the permissions or not.

Bill.Ramby; you give permission from manage permissions to the groups. Did look there? Also, modification only includes English language, which language do you use? Do you mean no option to uninstall the mod?

thanks for the quick reply :) .. yes i have this file and the permissions say "0644" ... i can change it, is this what i need to do change the 0644 to something else? :)

[SiNaN]

Not sure. While installing the package, the error was File not found, isn't it?

ok I will try and change it then see if it works... I never change permission before but it doesn't look too hard.  I will let you know :)

[SiNaN]

Interesting that you didn't change them till now. You can look at the online manuel;

I use English. For the other questions, please see the screenshots attached.

[SiNaN]

Hımmm, interesting really. Did you face any errors during the install of the mod? Just now I tried, it works perfect. Maybe download of the package was not successful.

Bill.Ramby

No errors that I recall. I'll download it and try again. Maybe something to do with Tiny Portal?

Bill.Ramby

Re-applied the mod and now I come back with the same errors as mentioned by Filipina. Changing to 777 did not resolve the issue.

Bill.Ramby

Disregard. Even though it says it's changing the permissions, when I go back and look again, it's still 644. I'll have to look at it when I get home.

ok I went and double checked the files are there... then I changed permissions to 755 and tried to reinstall the package... I am getting the same error message that "file not found" for those two files..

Themes/default/languages/Managepermissions.english.php  File not found
Sources/Managepermissions.php File not found

since I know the files are there not sure what is the problem ?

[SiNaN]

I must say that, me too, didn't understand the problem. But I don't think the problem is in the package.

But lets check. Try installing the package linked below. Do not install, just look that this packages sees the files, or not.
