@MarcusJ,
Have a look at the post below, it lists the files that SimplePortal moves from the SimplePortal package to your forum.

Try using FTP to upload the SimplePortal files to the correct locations.

@DragonKith,
You have to download SP 2.3.1, then upload it using the package manager. Then there should be an 'upgrade' option next to the SimplePortal 2.3.1 package in the package list.

@Kimmie,
I am unsure what is going wrong at the moment, the main function seems to work fine. Try upgrading to SP 2.3.1 (if you haven't already) to see if that fixes the issue at all. Otherwise, I can try to debug it on your site.

@PRaDiUS,
Try '~action|mgallery'.

Upgraded from 2.3 to 2.3.1 and still getting that error when I am on the default theme viewing the portal.

I also just noticed that I have the setting checked "Display Blocks in Forum", however none of them actually show up on the forum. Any ideas why that isnt working either?

Right click the red X and see what image it is trying to load for that icon.

Locate the directory and place the image as needed.

yeah I already got it fixed, thanks. Just basically wanted the mod auth to know that the upgrade caused that issue. Not sure why but it did..lol.

EDIT: Ok the upgrade did more damage than good. Nobody can see the portal, yet the settings still show all the groups being checked. I have tried unchecking them, saving it, and then checking them again still cant see them. This is irritating to say the least.

Edit Again.. well thats not the only problems. When I installed 2.3.1 I used the upgrade feature. I decided to uninstall it completely and I was gonna try and install the 2.3.1 version fresh. Well. it appeared to uninstalled the upgrade, and left the 2.3 version on (2.3 was teh version listed in PM now instead of 2.3.1). When I tried to uninstall that, this is what I got:

so NOW what do I do? IT says that 2.3 is still installed, but yet its not working. I have no admin CP area for the mod anymore either. Man, this is a HUGE mess. I cant even parse the mod to check to see if the file edits are still there because the parser wont work. *inserts pulling hair out smiley*.

yoggie

Congrats. But anyway... have you any-idea to use it in other themes?

Nathaniel

@Kimmie,
If you used the "Uninstall" option for the latest package that you have listed, then it won't undo the upgrade changes, it will completely uninstall the mod. Delete the old 2.3 package, you don't need to try to uninstall it. Then upload the 2.3.1 package and try to install it.

@yoggie,
SimplePortal tends to work well in any theme. The only edits you will need to perform for a custom theme, are adding the "Forum" button and adding the "Add as article" link. See this tutorial for help with that: http://simpleportal.net/index.php?topic=148.0

Its a normal SMF mod package. Upload it via the SMF Package manager.

Tried that and about 5 other things. The upgrade for this mod really messed up my site bad. When I deleted the packages and then reuploaded the 2.3.1 I didnt get the normal "apply" option, it said it was installed again. The file edits were never done, but the package manager said it was installed.

HUGE mess. I ended up having to reupload a backup of my public html folder because it also caused a couple of my other mods to stop working as well. (created the same issue for them - said they were installed but the unistallation of this mod removed alot of the other mod file edits as well. Took me 3+ hours to get it all right again, and I still have one mod I cant fix because the parser on the mod page no longer works with RC1.2.

I'm regretting the move to 2.0 every day I wake up. If its not one thing its another. Never had these problems with 1.x

m-e-s-s VB's lookin better and better.

@Kimmie,
Well, you could ask about how to do things before you rush into them... If you want the SMF package manager to think that a mod is not installed, then open up phpMyAdmin, goto the 'smf_log_packages' table, edit the relevant entry for SimplePortal changing the 'install_state' value to 0. Then you should be able to reinstall it.

I did ask..lol read the bottom of my post above that sat unanswered for over 2 days. It plainly states "Now What Do I Do".

I have installed "upgrades" for quite a few mods in the past, used the same exact methods with those and have never had this kind of mess...lol. This was horrible. It was almost as bad as the docs not telling folks that they need to uninstall all mods "before" they upgrade to 2.0. That was a nightmare.

Is it possible to have Simple Portal blocks on my forum index page only? Meaning I don't want the blocks showing on the forum boards themselves.

Thanks!

Spoogs

You can set them however you want... go to display options and check the advanced options box and choose from there.

fmofmpls

Still couldn't find an option for forum index page only. The advanced options only appeared to offer specific boards. I don't want any of the boards to show the blocks other than the forum idex page only.

Hello, I have problem with this mod.

I use ApoloBB theme, and when I integrate forum buton and home buton like this

// Show the [home] button.
echo '
<a href="', ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 3 && empty($context['disable_sp']) ? $modSettings['sp_standalone_url'] : $scripturl), '" ' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'class="nav_important"' : '' , '>' , $txt[103] , '</a>&nbsp;|';
// Show the [forum] button.
if (empty($context['disable_sp']) && in_array($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'], array(1, 3)))
echo'
<a href="', $scripturl. ($modSettings['sp_portal_mode'] == 1 ? '?action=forum' : ''), $current_action == 'forum' ? 'class="nav_important"' : '', '>' , $txt['sp-forum'] , '</a>&nbsp;|';

Any solutions?
It open me this way
Quoteforumurl/index.phpclass

Original code for home button is this:

// Show the [home] button.
echo '
<a href="', $scripturl, '" ' , $current_action == 'home' ? 'class="nav_important"' : '' , '>' , $txt[103] , '</a>&nbsp;|';
