I get this error when trying to install. It fails on modifying "post.template.php". Any ideas?

You can go ahead with the upgrade and manually edit your Post.template.php. The "patch smf 1.1.4 to 1.1.5" does the following to Post.template.php.

Code (search for) Select
// Version: 1.1; Post
Code (replace) Select
// Version: 1.1.5; Post

Code (search for) Select
<td class="windowbg" width="100%">
<div id="preview_body" class="post">', empty($context['preview_message']) ? '' : $context['preview_message'], '</div>

Code (replace) Select
<td class="post" width="100%" id="preview_body">
', empty($context['preview_message']) ? str_repeat('<br />', 5) : $context['preview_message'], '

Thanks for the reply. It seems the second change listed there has already been made to my Post.template.php file. Installed, made the other change to Post.template.php file and all seems to be well. Thanks.

Hi Anyone can help.

I downloaded smf_patch_1.0.13_1.1.5_2.0-b3.1.tar but how to upgrade by using this file?

Thank you.
What version are you using? If 1.1.4 you can just get the patch from the Admin->Packages area and apply it from there. The local path is the path to your SMF directory (ex: public_html/smf).

I am getting the following error after upgrading via the Admin/Packages update:

Table './chevy/smf_log_search_results' is marked as crashed and should be repaired
File: /vservers/chevy/htdocs/smforum/Sources/Search.php
Line: 1385

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum's files are currently at version SMF 1.1.5, while your database is at version 1.1.2. The above error might possibly go away if you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

You can try to fix it in your CPANEL.

Anyone?  the search funtion on my board is giving the above error and I don't know how to go about updating the database.  The package intalled fine with no errors when I ran  it.  Should it not have updated the database at the same time?

As with all new issues and not the original thread creator, yes it's best to start your own topic.

you could try seraching the SMF site for those errors

greyknight17

You need to login to your webhost's control panel (usually cPanel) and go into phpMyAdmin. Click on your database and then check the smf_log_search_results entry. Scroll down to the bottom and under the With selected drop down menu, choose repair table.

If you still need help on this, create a new topic since you are not the original topic starter and it seems to be abandoned.

I'm not a IT wizard but I've always been able to keep my forum up to date .. until I tried upgrading to 1.1.5  :'(

Can someone help me please? I am running 1.1.4 so I should be able to upgrade from the administrator panel in my forum.  When I click on 'upgrade' I get three error messages (In Dutch so I'll translate them) and the process stops. It strongly adivises not to continue with the upgrade.

1. Voer aanpassing uit smf_1-1-4_to_1-1-5_patch.mod Modificatieverwerkingsfout
2. Voer aanpassing uit smf_1-1-5_can_fail.xml Modificatieverwerkingsfout
3. Voer aanpassing uit - Modificatieverwerkingsfout

"Voer aanpassing uit" means something like Execute adaptation or modification
"Modificatieverwerkingsfout" means Modification process error

Can anyone help me please, I'd like to keep my forum up to date.

what appears in your forum error log when you reach this point?

Gent

This is the message from the error log:

administrator   Today 15:18:24
84.194.136.250     a771fb39ae7c47bf6820fa3d8873f5ef

8: Undefined index: package_readme
File: /var/www/vhosts/hififorum.nl/httpdocs/Sources/Packages.php
Line: 294

naitram

i did a search on package_readme and most common fix was permissions

in the Packages directory

Gent

After I try to perfom the upgrade, a zip package appears in the Packages directory.
The name is : smf_patch_1.0.13_1.1.5_2.0-b3.1.zip

That file has read and write permissions for Owner, Group and All Users but no Execute permissions. If I try to change that it gives me an error message.

In the zip package, there are six files:

package-info.xml
smf_1-0-12_to_1-0-13_patch.mod
smf_1-0-13_can_fail.xml
smf_1-1-4_to_1-1-5_patch.mod
smf_1-1-5_can_fail.xml
smf_2-0-b3_to_2-0-b3-1_patch.mod

And I have absolutely no idea what to do with these

naitram

what are permissions on temp directoy under Packages?

Gent

#79
There is no temp directory under Packages. There is only a directory called backups.
That one has read, write and execute permissions for everybody.
