I'm still fighting this upload, since yesterday morning.  I recently installed Zone Alarm.  Could this be interfering with the upload?

BE THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Errors of omission create dumb questions.

If you cant upload files to your server, you should contact your host about that. Have you tryed update via package manager?

Yes
ZA has a general annoyance factor built in to stop things like this.  Disable it temporaroly and try the upload. It only happens if many attacks are coming against your computer. Its pretty good at what it does but can annoy me when it tries. Disable it for 5 mins while you upload.

Thanks for the update! I just upgraded 2 different forums, although the package manager wouldn't work for both of them it is still really easy to do it without it.

used the package manager for both of my forums and worked like a charm.. that is by far the easist way to upgrade..

I did this with the package manager, all went apparently fine, but when I try to search I get this:

QuoteDatabase Error
You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' 0)(2, 291, 25.5, , 0)' at line 3
File: /var/www/html/forum/Sources/Search.php
Line: 643

Note: It appears that your database may require an upgrade. Your forum files are currently at version SMF 1.0.1, whereas your database is at version SMF 1.0. It is recommended that you execute the latest version of upgrade.php.

Do I need to run the upgrade only, or upload all the files too?

Oh, and one search generated 5 pages of error messages!

Look at this that Unknown wrote last night at the same problem I hade. It works !!!
Changes in Search.php that has to be done. Line 626. replace with this line below.

Actually, it has to do with MySQL permissions... and something else, which I'm not sure of.

Anyway, I think I see what I did... I made it worse :P.  Use this:

$tmp[$ID_MSG] = '(' . (int) $modSettings['search_pointer'] . ', ' . (int) $row['ID_TOPIC'] . ', ' . (int) $relevance . ', ' . (int) $ID_MSG . ', ' . (int) $row['numMsg'] . ')';

Running the upgrade made it work again, only one error per search now.  Will that fix the one error I'm getting?

Check this in index.lang.php

In Dutch, English, German, and Spanish respectively:
$txt[166] = 'Zoek resultaten';
$txt[166] = 'Search Results';
$txt[166] = 'Suchergebnisse';
$txt[166] = 'Resultados de la búsqueda';

This should appear in Themes/default/languages/index.LANG.php.

The package available on the download page is not a *package manager* package.  You have to use the link in your package manager for that one.

My package manager cannot connect for some reason. How can i fix that?

[Unknown]

Ask your host to turn on allow_url_fopen.  It's a security setting, though, so I don't know that they will.

allow_url_fopen is enabled.

Live from Simple Machines... says:
You are unable to connect to simplemachines.org's latest news file.

If that page says that, I would guess you've got javascript errors; can you post a link?

QuoteThe upgrader found some old or outdated language files.

Please make certain you uploaded the new versions of all the files included in the package, even the theme and language files for the default theme.

I have downloaded the newest language for me (german) - uploaded it - but notjong happened. If i click on "Click here to try again." nothing happened.

Could my ads be blocking something? (they are added into my index template)

I think you should upgrade to v1.0 first before you can use de packagemanager to install 1.0.1.
