Kindred

you will have to manually apply the failed changes to your index.template.php file(s).

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

smf 1.1.8 - default theme

0.8.1 beta:
manually extracted _files and ftp them to forum root on server
package manager - uploaded install file -
Type Action Description
1. Execute Modification ./index.php Test successful
2. Execute Modification .\Sources/Subs.php Test successful
3. Execute Modification .\Sources/Who.php Test successful
4. Execute Modification .\Themes\default/index.template.php Test failed
5. Execute Code install_db_edits.php

deleted all files then tried the same with 7.9 version:
once again i got

Execute Modification .\Themes\default/index.template.php Test failed

is it worth going ahead with the install anyway?
or have i missed a manual change somewhere?

thanks in advance

Procede, but you will have to edit your index.template.php manually afterwards. If using 0.7.9, use this to parse it: http://resourcez.biz/PackageParser/index.php

If using 0.8.1, use the parser on the mod page.

When you create each blog it gives you options as to who can see it. If it still fails, I highly recommend downgrading to 0.7.9 .

Thats per blog though, not per entry right?

denzil69

hmmmmm strange this.

i went ahead with the 7.9 version install, and all appears to be working fine?
i have not parsed anything yet and all options are there, and the standard layout is intact?

thanks again for the quick replies

edit:
ive just checked all the parts to manually change and they are in my template already?

is this possible?

edit 2:

now we have some fun, just set up a blog and wrote the first post, when i click on publish, preview or save as draft, it goes to an error screen and states that i cannot have a blank title or body.

the title and body boxes were full when i tried to save them???

denzil69

the error message given within the forum error log is:

8: Undefined index: rand_string
File: .....\zCommunity\Sources\Post.php
Line: 498

the odd thing is, it generates 6 duplicate error messages in the log for each error

If the entries were already on your custom index.template.php, then you must have already added them. If they were already on your default index.template.php, package manager added them for you.

To get rid of the "blank entry" bug add the following to your .htaccess file:
php_flag register_globals off

ive already tried this on htaccess in the website root, and then i removed that and tried htaccess again in the forum folder, both failed to sort the problem.

Then I have no idea. Adding that line to the htaccess in my forum folder fixed the problem for me. If you're still experienecing problems you'll have to wait for the developer to provide actual support.....I wouldn't hold your breath :P

in a final attempt to get this mod to work, heres what ive done.

i deleted the 0.7.9 version manually and uninstalled it via smf forum admin.

ive manually uploaded the files for the new beta version
ive installed via admin part of forum, now i have the blog (to which i can finally post to) however it now is only the blog and all my boards have disappeared from the header bar.

so i click to "import"  a board to test it... importing board fails.

is there anyone out there who has any idea on how to get this mod working?

it looks good but support is lacking, im just waiting for anyone to have a go at getting it to work before i give up on it all together and put it down to being unreliable and full of bugs.

thanks

smf 1.1.8 links,

with version 0.8.1 the blog comes up and i can post to it (unlike version 0.7.9 - which kept returning me to a blank boxed error screen)
the post shows up, but then becomes the first page of the site (over riding the forum)

so i try to import boards from the forum, which fails, plus the previous and next, post buttons only show the post im already viewing, even when i have three posts on the blog to move between.

Even tho my attempts to assist you have failed. If you chose to try and make it work, I guarantee you'll have more success with 0.7.9 than 0.8.1. I recommend testing a fresh test install with 0.7.9. It may provide insight as to why it's not working on your main site.

Hello,

Great mod! But I am missing my buttons for administration area. How do I fix this? [picture attached]

SMF 2.0 RC1
Mc Dult Theme
Installed fine

xTwilightx

Extract the 'Files' archive, go to Themes/default/

And copy the folders within the default folder the Files archive into each of the theme's image folder you have installed.

Why would it matter if you're using wireless or pluged in?

xTwilightx if that was for me it didn't do anything unfortunately.

If you're trying to view zCommunity pages through a mobile device, it'll tell you  "zCommunity does not support wireless protocals yet. Sorry."

Obviously I'll add easy template support for mobile devices eventually.
