Indeed, very nice looking theme. Just one question, does it change the the background based off the servers time zone or the users local time zone?

I think it should be based off of user time and thus I recommend doing it with javascript.

No....Since you use the date function to get the hour it gets the time from the server's time not from the user's time, thats what *eren meant, use JS if you need the user's time.

[SiNaN]

Dragooon, actually no, it does.

It adds the users' time offset to the time it gets from the server. If the guest is the viewer, it adds the forum's overall time offset.

Dragooon

OK You are right BUT, shouldn't it multiply $user_info['time_offset'] with 3600 or $modSettings['time_offset'] with 3600 since the hours are stored, and are not stored/converted into seconds anywhere AFAIK.

[SiNaN]

Why do we need to convert it to seconds? We just take the hour from server and time offsets are all hours.

Check the codes Dragooon, I'm ready to answer all. :P

   $time =  (int) date("H");
   if($context['user']['is_logged'])
      $time = $time + (int) $user_info['time_offset'];
   else
      $time = $time + (int) $modSettings['time_offset'];

The live demo isn't working for me

Some problems may happen because of that the demo is on a free host. Do you still get an error?

I have a question regarding the time offset. Being in Australia, I currently have my default forum time at 14.5 GMT which brings the forum time in line with my computer clock. Now, this is fine as it shows the correct theme pictures for guests. However, when I log in, it switches to the theme to the opposite theme picture.

For example, the current picture I have is a day picture as it is now 3:41pm. However, when I login, it switches to a Night picture because my user time offset is at 0. Is there anyway of making it so that the login picture is the same as the guest picture without me changing the user time offset?

Am I making any sense at all?

[SiNaN]

Sure. Just do this;

index.template.php

Find:

   $time =  (int) date("H");
   if($context['user']['is_logged'])
      $time = $time + (int) $user_info['time_offset'];
   else
      $time = $time + (int) $modSettings['time_offset'];

Replace:

   $time =  (int) date("H");
   $time = $time + (int) $modSettings['time_offset'];

I tried to install on a 2.0 beta 3.1 but it failed.  Any ideas?  And no I don't want to run 1.5

[SiNaN]

You should wait until HCM updates the theme for SMF 2.x.
