I have been having a couple of problems with some Mods I downloaded - The creators and I are trying to fix them.

One of the creators told me to use my packager perser - which I am assuming is in the Custom Actions section -

This is the error I get when I try to access that area:

Fatal error: modifyactionsettings(): Failed opening required '/home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/CustomAction.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 386

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  My Forum is in Maintenance Mode right now because none of the existing posts can be accessed.

Thanks in advance.

Bigguy

Is the CustomAction.php file in the Sources directory. ??? Have all the required edits been done to all the files if you are using a custom theme. ??? This is a package parser; it is used to show the manual edits that need to be done to install a mod on a custom theme or if you are having problems. The mod site has a parse button underneath each mod.

parser

NYChamps

I did not set this forum up - it was acquired from someone else - so I am learning as I am doing.

Where do I find the Sources directory?

I am not using a custom theme - I am using Core

Is the parser button on the Mod Site the little green button next to the download?  If so, I clicked on it and nothing happens.

I clicked on your Parse link and clicked on uninstall for the ThumbsUp mod and it gave me a huge list of things to edit and delete - but again, I don't know where to find these directories.

I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, but like I said - I'm learning.  Once I do something once, there shouldn't be any of the same issues.  Its the first time, at least with this situation, that is driving me nuts!!  lol :)

Thanks for your patience.  O:)

Bigguy

All the directories are going to be located where ever you installed SMF.

NYChamps

I never installed anything....I am running the forum for someone - I was a member of the forum so I just accessed it and then I was given Admin permissions....

am I dead in the water?????  lol

Bigguy

Is the custom actions mod installed under the packages area of the admin panel. ???

NYChamps

Got it all squared away Bigguy!  Thanks soooo much for all your help - this should not happen again!  lol  ;D

NYChamps

I may have spoken too soon.

Got my posts back but in trying to access Features and Options I get this error:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected ',' in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 164

I have been to line 164 more than once (my eyes were tired  lol) and I cannot find an unexpected "," anywhere?

Any suggestions?

NYChamps

Update:

Somehow I was able to get rid of the first error code now I have this one:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 196

HELP!!!

Bigguy

Have you been uninstalling mods to get this far. ??? If you have uninstall another and see what happens. Obviously these are mods that are fouling up that file. The easy solution would be to replace the file.

NYChamps

Yes I have...I installed 5 of them and 3 of them worked fine and 2 of them caused problems.  I've been working on getting the other 2 out - even though I uninstalled both of them there were still files hanging around in the ModSettings.  I manually deleted them.

I just uninstalled and deleted another mod and now the message says:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 190

So, same message, just a different line.  ??? ???

Bigguy

Keep going uninstalling mods if you can't replace the file. Keep in mind if you CAN replace that file then the errors should stop but there will be no settings for any other mod that edits that file.

NYChamps

I have uninstalled everything that has been installed over the past couple of days - including the 1.1.5 upgrade.

Message is still there.

The only mods left are the ones that have been there since the beginning.

Should I delete the ones I uninstalled as well?

Thanks again for your patience and help Bigguy  O:)

Bigguy

He can't post it thats why we are trying to solve this a different way. ;)

NYChamps

I'm still getting this code:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ')' in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/ModSettings.php on line 190

what exactly do you want me to post, the entire ModSettings.php???? is that wise to post in a public forum?  just being cautious.

NYChamps

#16
Well I kept uninstalling mods one at a time.  When I got to the adsense one and uninstalled it I got this message and I cannot utilize any part of the forum or admin panel.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: showarsads() in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/Load.php(1728) : eval()'d code on line 342

I go to Sources/Load.php but I don't see anything about 1728 or any of the rest of it......

Frustrated doesn't even come close to describing me right now!   >:(

What do I need to post to get this all cleared up?

****I still have the above code but right now the only code showing is:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/Load.php on line 397

and everytime I fix it another one comes up on the next line or two lines down -

I'm going to stop trying because I think I am making everything worse -

Tell me what you need to help me through this and I will post it right away

The entire forum is down and all I have is a white page with the latest code on it.   :'( :'( :'(

Bigguy

Do you have access to the sites cpanel. ???

NYChamps

#18
If you mean the Admin Control Panel on the Forum?  Nope, all I have is the white page with the code....can't go anywhere from there, but I can get to the root file.

If you click on my site you will see what I mean.

Site name by the way is  www.makethatdollar.net

Bigguy

No I meant do you have access to the host control panel.

NYChamps

The root file where I can go in a make changes to the mod settings and load.php  things like that?   yes that I have

Bigguy

Can you get at your ModSettings.php file and upload it here. ???

NYChamps

#22
Here it is (hopefully)

Bigguy

What version of SMF are you using. ???

Bigguy

Ok, try this file out. Rename the one that is there now and upload this one. I found multiple errors and I think I got them all. :)

NYChamps

I uploaded the new one and then transferred it and still i have the same white page with the same error.

:( :( :(

Bigguy

Press ctrl + f5 and see if that helps. There are no errors in the Modsettings file anymore.

NYChamps

Ctr + F5 didn't do anything.

The errors that I showed you last were coming from Load.php

I attached it in case this is the culprit

Bigguy

Line 397 is causing the error. For some reason I can't get this one:

                $check = sha1($user_settings['passwd'] . $user_settings['passwordSalt']) == $password;

The error is:

unexpected T_VARIABLE

I'm still workin on it but might continue tomorrow.

NYChamps

Thanks  I appreciate your help   Whatever you can do to help is great.  Members are getting nasty  lol
Forum has been down a whole day.  I'll hang around a while in case you decide to do any more tonight otherwise I will check first thing in morning.   ;D

NYChamps

An update....

No more white page with error;

I now am back to having the Forum coloring and the heading and this message again -

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: showarsads() in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 342

When I go to that page all that is on that line is a "}"

redone

You'll have to disable template eval temporarily to get the real file and error line.

To do this, run this query in PHPmyAdmin (What is phpMyAdmin?)

INSERT INTO smf_settings VALUES ('disableTemplateEval', 1);

Once that's done, get the error again and copy it (the file and line may have changed), then run this query to re-enable it:

DELETE FROM smf_settings WHERE variable = 'disableTemplateEval';

HELP   PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  My Forum Has Been Down TOO Long Now!!!!!!

How do I access the phpmyadmin or mysql if I can't access any part of my forum?

I'm new at this so you kind of threw me on this one.  Any help is appreciated.  :)

Bigguy

phpmyadmin is accessed by going into your cpanel of your host. In there you will select the database name of the database you are using on the left. A menu should appear above that with a tab called Query; press that tab and enter what RedOne has stated above. he should be able to help you out more with the database stuff.

NYChamps

#34
I do not have any tab that says "Query"

I use FileZilla to access my root file.

NYChamps

I have been having some coding issues that I have been trying to work out with some of the support specialists but i'm on day 3 of my forum being down.....they don't seem to be online now and I really need to get the forum back up and running.

Can I do a complete install as well and start the slate clean except keep my members and old posts?

I have already downloaded a full version of SMF 1.1.5, now I just need to know if this is a smart thing to do and what my next step is.

I am very new at this, still learning the lingo....

Also...since I could not find phpmyadmin I downloaded it - not exactly sure where to put it - but I was trying to get to the query box....

I access my root file through filezilla.

Thanks!

Hello NYChamps,
I brought your last post over from http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=244233.0.

You can install SMF and point it to your existing db. Upload the 1.1.5 files to your server and replace all files except Settings.php && Settings_bak.php!!
Delete the Install.php and Install.sql file(s).

NYChamps

Thank you so much for responding to quickly!!

I have attached a copy of the page for my root file.  You can see where the new SMF 1.1.5 went when I uploaded it - is this where it is supposed to be?

If so.....what exactly is my next step?

N3RVE

NYChamps,
I'm not on a computer and so unable to downoad and view the attachments.
Where did you upload SMF files to? SMF is fine in any dir accessible by URL.
You can overwrite the current forum files as earlier stated.

Oh ok.

The file uploaded on the Right Side under a file folder /:

- attachments
- avatars
- packages
- phpMyAdmin
- smf 1.1.5 install
- smileys
- sources
- themes

N3RVE

-smf1.1.5 install isn't required.
Use the old Settings.php and Settings_bak.php file.

NYChamps

Just so I don't screw anything else up.....

I should delete the SMF install, correct?

Where do I get the files to replace the old files with?  From the SMF install on my computer?

What exactly should I do with the setup files?

I know I sound ignorant....and I guess I am - regarding this anyway - but once I do it - I won't forget it....

Thanks for hanging with me through this - this is what I needed - some hand holding   lol

N3RVE

Deleting the install package has no positive/negative effect on the forum.
You may want to see documentation.

NYChamps

I read the articles from your link

I'm still confused as to where I get the replacement files from.

This is the error I get when trying to access http://www.yourdomain.tld/smf/install.php (of course I insert my domain)

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/Load.php on line 2199

N3RVE

You should get a fresh set of the Install package from the download section linked above.

NYChamps

I downloaded a fresh Install and replaced the files.

Do I go into each folder and replace each file in it?

I tried to pull up the Forum and all I get is the same Code as shown above.

NYChamps

I took the Forum out of Maintenance Mode through Settings and now I get this code again:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: showarsads() in /home/content/a/c/u/acuityitc/html/makethatdollar/Sources/Load.php(1726) : eval()'d code on line 342

and I cannot for the life of me find this.

K, all set.

When installing mods from this point on, please tread lightly.  if you get errors before installing, DO NOT install unless you are 100% positive you know how to properly modify the affected files.
