Message subject line

I am working on a message board, that will need to have sequencial numbers instead of a subject line.  Is there a mod or anything that will allow me to change this?

If it is in the coding, can someone point me in the right direction?  Your help is GREATLY appreciated, I'm on a Friday (9/26) deadline YIKES!
