QuoteOk so I have several of issues and if anyone can help please reply or send me a message. My forum: xxx.sc2gateway.com

1) Guests can't see the shoutbox. Even when you click the arrow on the right all it shows is that clock on the top left corner and that's it.

2) There is a small white dot underneath the shoutbox. When I disable the shoutbox that dot disapears. What is it?

3) I made the font color be white by default. When people type in the text field the letters are black, but when they click enter they are white. When they change the font color on the right, you can see the text within the textfield. How do I make the text field be white letters by default as well.

Thank you!

I too have this small dot. It's my adblock plus extension for Firefox that wants to know if the shoutbox needs to be blocked. If found this out when I kept my mouse on the dot.

For the other issues I have no answer (yet) ^^

QuoteI can see the shout box sitting at teh bottom of my forum, cursor there, allows me to type but on send the text doesn't appear in the messages box... it vanishes!  :o

A small clock appears in the top left of the message box momentarily.... but no messages... no smilies... nada.

Any ideas?

Did you manually install the mod?

Quotedid you create the tables on your database??, cuz if u installed it manually, you have to create the tables

look in the package for a file called "smf-1.1.x_install.php", upload it to your host, and then execute it, that file will create the tables for you

I have just installed this mod and had no issues whatsoever. Also on the custom theme used on the forum. There are the usual issues of the smilies in the more pop-up don't show in the shoutbox, but otherwise it's working like a charm.

One question: I've set the Number of messages to keep in Shoutbox to 100, however if I go to the moderation page for the shout, there are a lot more messages kept there. Is it possible to have it so that it automatically prunes the messages as soon as a set nr of messages is posted? or that it deletes the oldest message, so there are always a certain nr of messages in the table? or automatically prunes messages older than a set age.

Nope.... although I manually added the code to my theme..

Strange. I did the same. First installed it using the package manager, and manually added the code to the custom theme specific files. No problems whatsoever. Could try running the code anyway, to make sure the table is there.

The dot is also there in Epiphany. Has something to do with java cos I can select the dot and right click it, and it gives me java options.

1) And you as a user or admistrator can see it? get msgs and post?

2) Dot? :P waht dot?  :-\ ... oh !! that DOT xD ... it is a flash that helps with sound (javascript gave me a lot of problems so I used a small embed xD)
it is supposed to be transparent, flash is not my job anyways, will see if someone can help me with that...

3) could be that you already have color saved in cookies, but if you post and color is white, it's diferent, I will check it ...

Yzzy

I've never moved the shoutbox.

I have attached a 'image' of the shoubox as it appears on my forum....

By the way you have some spelling mistakes that need attention.

Maximium message's lenght - should be length in all cases of that word.

the emoticons in the shoutbox are the same from the forum... so you only need to customize the ones from the forum

Anything on the automatic clearing of old messages?

btw: attached you'll find the shoutbox.english.php with correct English spelling. If you're interested I've also attached a Dutch translation.

How do you add the shoutbox to other themes.An also how do you add it to other pages in the forum an if you have simpleportal?Im using smf 1.1.10

JulesW

Quoteinteresting, I've never think about it xD, will try to add it in next version

In my opinion the last option will be most useful (Automatic deletion of messages older than a set age) I'm looking forward to the new version. Great mod!

For other themes you'll have to manually edit the theme specific files (/Themes/"your theme"/index.template.php)
You can set in admin panel on which pages you want to display the shout.
Dunno about simpleportal. I myself am using 1.1.10 as well. Works like a charm!

For 2.0 RC1.2 you'll need to edit the ./Themes/"your theme"/index.template.php

you can find instructions here

There's no further information on the mod site. Unless you wanted us to parse the information and manually adding the code to the custom theme's index.template.php? <-- Ok, it works after trying that.

Next question: I'm using simple portal 2.2.2 and set the portal page as my home page. What page is that page called so I could add it to the list to make the shoutbox appear there too?

Shoutbox in Simple Portal

Go to Administration Panel - Simple Portal - Blocks - Add block - PHP Custom - Select block type

This is the data you need to fill...

Custom PHP:
// Hack's Park Shoutbox -->
if (function_exists('template_shoutbox')) template_shoutbox();
// <-- Hack's Park Shoutbox

Active: Checked

Show Block On:
Portal

Advanced Options: Unchecked
No Title: Checked
No Body: Checked

Custom Body Style:
padding: 0;

Any other options depends from you

Go to Administration panel - Shoutbox

This is the data you need to fill...

Add in Pages where Shoutbox will be printed:
sportal

Add in Pages where Shoutbox's main function will be ignored:
sportal

Attachment shows you how it looks...

Sweet! Thanks makito. Just another quick question. I visited simportal's site and they seem to have a mod that allows you to put the shoutbox in block. The example would just like the shoutbox on simpleportal's site. I'm not sure if you're the one who also created that mod or not, but I downloaded the mod and was unable to upload it due to some uploading errors. Since I'm not able to install their mod, is there a simple way where I can put the shoutbox on a small left block like how simpleportal.com has theirs? Thanks for all your hard work.

Left blocks and right blocks are not supported yer, I think, cuz shoutbox is not as small as a block there... and it wont wrap, but you can add it anyway
