Thanks for new update patch.  :)

To upgrade, use the package manager to upgrade to 1.0.15/1.1.7. Simply visit your administration center, where a notice will be displayed, prompting you to upgrade.

My admin center is not giving me the normal upgrade link/warning it use to show. How do I install this update?

metallica48423

you can download the mod package from the first post of this topic, and upload it to /Packages, and install it that way

* metallica48423 asks that all further support questions please get posted to Install and Upgrade Help

Thanks!

QuoteThis topic is naught but the announcement of the release for the community here.

Seems simple enough to get what you want then. Post the announcement with a link to a support topic you start in the right place and then lock the announcement thread.

EXACTLY!

What else is there, other than a bunch of posts from people having problems with the update (who are then derided for posting, "You should post in the support forums, dammit! Do you want me to ban you, or lock this thread????"
Or 200 meaningless "Me too!, worked for me!" posts??

If  saying something *didnt* work is grounds for sending them to the support forums, then saying it *DID* work should do the same, shouldnt it?

It's like a company pissing and moaning about littering at a doorway.
They terminated and warned employees, they had staff to harass people, till someone had the bright idea to install a TRASH CAN!

My best suggestion to you is that you do whatever you feel like doing, for whatever reason you choose to make, without any required explanation nor justification. You probably will, so hop to it!

Thank you for the speedy update, always nice to see.

palofdru, weightman*, and others,

Is it so hard to understand they want people to goto the support boards, because they want each issue to be in its own topic, so they know its resolved. Who wants to ask a question on page for and maybe have to wait until page six to see the answer, when they could first search, see if its been answered and if not start a new topic and get an answer.

Makes it easier on the support staff, and on the user.

From what I understand these topics are left open for people to ask about the specific release and to say thanks or say, what ever.

From the first post

"Lastly, please do not use this topic for any support requests. You will get a much more prompt response to your question, by visiting the relevant support board!"

Let me add maybe the team should link directly to the Install/Upgrade board, and or the 1.x Support board.

*Sorry your who he quoted so it stood to reason, and I see your point, but this release isn't the best example of a release where people would ask whats been added or ask about a feature or other things that might not be "support."
Thank you,
Robert aka godboko

Quotepalofdru, weightman, and others,

Hey now, I didn't ask any questions in this thread. Still, I agree with palofdru though its not big deal to me. The ability for people to post a thank you is pretty trivial. And if they really want to they could do it in the chit-chat forum. But, this thread has a ton of them, plus a few support questions you don't want here, and then a bunch of "don't post support questions here." All seems pointless to me- just put the link to where you want support questions and then lock the thread.

As for me, thanks again for the upgrade. It worked smoothly!

Hey, there are only you two discussing about an irrevalant thing. It is said that talk about other stuffs in other section. This is an anouncement topic, and even it doesn't have to be locked, because we love to talk about it, and congratulate the team. If you try some paid scripts and it doesn't have to be a forum software, you realize that the customer support teams are very ineffective, and ignore you although those scripts are paid while here the script is free, and support is excellent. This is a great script to use, and the support team work perfectly though all are volunters. Hence, please just appreciate them, and do not mess this topic with irrelevant talks. Thank you smf. I really love this script because I haven't seen such script clever, smooth and safe like smf. I have used many scripts, and infact I have paid thousands to make them better, and efficient while here nothing, and I was able to modify the smf script myself with learning from others. I love smf, and I wish smf can be the best forum software in the world. There is only one problem that I dislike. Instead of seeing smf friends badges, I would like to see support, or other badges more. However, people became very busy to support smf these days. There were very great names supporting smf live. However, they are now just friends. I missed them, and would like to call them to work so that we can make this software the best.

aaahhh yes, I see your point....

Well, in that case, the link could go to a CREATE NEW TOPIC LINK, with the subject or something ALREADY FILLED OUT.

something like:
PROBLEM WITH THE UPGRADE

and fields for current SMF version they were coming from, hostname, phpversion etc.

My best suggestion to you is that you do whatever you feel like doing, for whatever reason you choose to make, without any required explanation nor justification. You probably will, so hop to it!
