If a user posts or replies to a thread he gets points. He then can buy things from me the admin by donating the points to me.

It's for vbulletin, not SMF.

I know of no mod, like that. That doesn't mean there isn't one, though.

Maybe a request here http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?board=3.0 would help?

Take a backup, though, just in case.

I'll assume you have 1.1.7 installed. What theme(s) are you using and what other mods do you currently have installed?

Does the Referral mod linked above not install or you didn't try because it didn't list 1.1.7?
