Google Talk (GTalk) Profile Field
by X3mE, version 1.1

Description

This modification will add the GTalk field to your profile, and make SMF treat it the same way as all the other messaging fields, thus showing it wherever it shows some of them.

This is for 2.x versions of SMF only. There will be no version for 1.1.x, as there are a few similar already.

Can you point out any code mods for non-SMF themes? It just shows a "G" and a "S" now where the icons used to be.. I'm not a php expert... but am sure the .gif files have to be moved into the new theme somewhere - but also any template/board/index.php mods? it shows up fine on core SMF (RC1) - just not the new themes -

TIA

When you install it, there's an option at the bottom of the screen to install on other themes (collapsed by default). But I think that you only need to copy the gifs to the /images folder of your theme and everything else should be already working.

Just FYI - If you uncollapse that option... it shows some of the themes (I have like 9 loaded) and which ones it will try to write to... and those that "fail" -

Unfortuntaly, it didn't pick up the theme I'm using - so will try it manually... for it's back to showing a "G" again.. but love the feature!

Thanks!

Unpack the installation package, you will find the image there, and copy it to the images folder of your theme :).

Hello!
Your Mod is Great. Good job. I like it, but I have SMF 2.0 RC2 and it didn't work. So i updated your mod to RC2. I attached new version, which works on RC2.
Regards!

Installed this on my test forum.

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=' in /home/xxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/Profile-View.php on line 338

is due to having the user cp mod installed I believe.

EDIT:

The offensive line:          FROM {db_prefix}messages AS m' . ($user_info['query_see_board'] == '1=1' ? '' : '

Glad some people are attempting side support on this. :) Can we get an RC3 version? Thanks.

is there an update for RC3? I`m trying to install but there are lots of fails...

MarcusJ

I would appreciate an RC3 version as well.  I'm giving up Skype and trying to migrate to Google Talk. :)

Any chance of an update for 2.0 final, or anyone know of an alternative mod?
