I am trying to download simple machines software and create a forum.


Will it allow me to post a picture in a post?


Also will it allow me to insert a ref code in the image is that possible?


Can i place banners above the forum categories as well?

Also my theme is slighlty adult realted is that ok?

Yes, it will allow you in 2 ways:
1.) As attachment
2.) Linking from another site:

If with ref code you mean link it to a URL, yes this is possible if it's with BB code:

You can place banners above your forum categories by modifying your theme.
And yes, if your site wants that, then a adult theme is OK, you can do with it what you want, as long as you leave the copyrights ofcourse!

Re copyright what dose that mean? I have a brand new idea, am trying to create a unique market! Would this mean my idea will be owned by the site?

The rule is that you can use the SMF software free of charge, aslong as you leave the copyright in place.
