if you need a technically accurate answer for the caching issue then i don't know, but with my forum it works just fine all the time

Go to Admin > Forum > Boards > Modify.

Click Modify on the board of your choice, and you should see the sorting options at the bottom.

When I try to install the mod via the install.xml file included, I get an error that says:

Unknown column 'b.sort_order' in 'field list'

The error is within the subs-boards.php on line 1042.

Btw, I'm running 2.0 RC2.

Well, after installing the modifications to the load.php and the subs-boards.php, it produces these results. 

The first screenshot is clicking on the manage boards and categories button.

The second is just clicking on a random board in the homepage.

With my SMF 1.1.11, I was using 'Custom board sort' mod to sort threads.

I upgraded to SMF latest version 2, the mod is not comptible it seems.

So using latest mod zip file- 2.0.1

So I uploaded 'Board sort methods' mod:

But when click on 'Install' , I am getting error. (Screenshot attached)

I added these changes mod manually. Now getting the error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';', expecting ')' in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/forum/Sources/ManageBoards.php on line 422


It has this code:
