What version of SMF do you have installed, and what other mods are you using??

Please note, Category View is not compatible with SMF 1.1.x versions.

kingkingston

I go to add this to 2.0 RC1.2 but it says

The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF.

SoLoGHoST

Well, I have tested this already and works.  Only thing I can recommend is that you can open up package-info.xml and change the following:

FIND (should be found 3 times):for="2.0 - 2.0.99"

CHANGE TO:for="2.0 RC1.2"

Save it and rezip it up and than you should be able to install it.

Cheers :)

For anyone who would like to support this mod and convert it over to SMF 2.0 RC2 please PM me.  I am no longer supporting this mod.  Hopefully someone would be willing to take it and support it.

Cheers :)

Can this mod be manually install in SMF2 rc2? Thanks.
I am using SMF 2.0.1, curve themes.

SoLoGHoST

This mod would need to be completely overhauled to support SMF 2.0 RC2, which is why I don't plan on supporting this mod anymore and have found a new author for this mod.  Labradoodle-360 will be taking over this mod as soon as the SMF Customization Team transfers it to him.  He plans on updating this mod to support SMF 2.0 RC2 as far as I know.

Cheers and Good Luck neverhurry.

Expect an update for SMF 2.0 RC2 very shortly.

I don't have access to a cPanel right now, which is how I write my mods so my mod developing is a little behind.

Why not set up a local installation? Much faster to do it on your own PC, IMO.

Sounds like a good idea!

127.0.0.1 is the best!

Arantor

I do all my dev on 127.0.0.1 before remotely testing on my VPS as necessary...

I definitely do testing and that kind of stuff locally, however it's easier to manage the files on a cPanel rather than windows, if you ask me.

However, now I have access to a cPanel.

Really? The mod I'm working on right now would be an utter nightmare to manage on a cPanel; if I want to change the source files, it's just a copy/paste away to get them from my working directory (which is also a local SVN repo checkout) into the master directory without having to do a reinstall.

Personally, what I find works best for me, is entering in the basic information into a XML template I made, uploading it to the cPanel, copying a readme.txt and package-info.xml to the new mods folder, and then doing the fine tune modifications.xml edits using the cPanel's edit feature and then I edit readme.txt to fit the new mods Summary, Release Date, Name, Edits, all that stuff as well as package-info.xml updates.

After that is done, I package it up into a tar.gz and do one final test through Package Manager. (As most of the time I play all of the edits out to make sure they work how they should even before I write the XML)

Topic: My Method of Creating Mods :P

I'll say one last thing then it should either be split or dropped.

Why not use an editor designed for editing code, rather than one that may potentially damage your file? Besides decent editors can actually show you problems in the XML...

Sorry, I know this is no longer my mod, but can you please edit the Category View Mod page Labradoodle-360 so that this is no longer in there...

QuotePlease Note:  I am giving this mod away if someone would like it and hopefully continue it's development into SMF 2.0 RC2 that would be great, please PM me if you are interested!  Thank You.

Ofcourse, you are free to change anything else...

Cheers :)

Hey SoLo, yes...

I plan on working more on the next version tonight.
Actually? I already have vBulletin Style done for RC2, it's just I have to work on the rest of the mod for RC2.

But yeah, I'll go remove that now.
