I can't find the place in the forum settings where I can turn this on.

*is SMF noob* :( Using SMF 2.0 RC3 in English.

the package should redirect after instalation or you should find it in admin>configuration>features and options>member colour link
Just switched to 1.1.11 and redid everything, I still don't see it. It successfully installed and it told me it would redirect me to the settings page but this didn't happen. This is what my Features and Options page looks like:

luismanson

Any ideas why i see this?:
8: Undefined index: online_color
Apply Filter: Only show the errors from this file
Archivo: /home/    /Themes/default/MessageIndex.template.php (main sub template - eval?)
Línea: 268

I installed this modification right now at my SMF 2.0 RC3 with default theme. Something funny happened with my Modifications.german-utf8.php. I get an error and the file looked like this after the installation (look into attachment).

ディン1031

but i see only the "Aeva Media" is on the top... and i don't know why SMF lose the lines oO.
My Mod normal add it to the end like it should be shown in you're version... and i think this is not a problem of my mod...

Yes, but the language file was correct until I decided to install this mod. afterwards the language file was corrupted. Maybe you have the ability to test this with a test forum only with these two mods?

ディン1031

Allready tested and it work fine... and what could i change that this not happen?

I tried it on SMF2.0RC3 and it did not happen on my local BSD system and windows system... so i don't know why it could happen... so i've no idea what i can do against it... (I tested it with a utf8 system)

Okay. No problem.

Betrachten wir das als gelöst, ist ja nur ne Kleinigkeit, und wenns nicht nachvollziehbar ist, muss man da auch keine Arbeit investieren.  ;)

Normal there should be no error, it could be possible together with an other mod... i use this variable but i know there was an older bug in Simple Portal with this Problem, but it is fixed now ;).

thanks for your reply, i think it may be related to YAGAM, but im not sure :(

luismanson

what about implementing support for this mod? (Custom Username Color)
http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2506

this mod allows users in the predefinied group to choose its own color, adding support in this mod would mean that the color can be show up everywhere

Except that this mod which is already huge would get to be massive... :(

mm ok, sorry for my ignorance i tought it was only a few lines to reference the settings of that mod

No, because you'd have to modify every change that this mod makes - and it's a lot.
Not really, but my problem would be how to detect the other mod, i must evertime check if the field exists before i can call it. The other this is it would be need one more query. Okay i could add an option for it, but if you select the option an the mod does not exists you can not use the forum anymore (becaus of the missing field). Or if you deinstall it and remove the field in the database the same would be happen... so it's not to easy to implement, but it would be possible by change the function which load the the colors for specific user ;).

why not check for some function of the other module?

ディン1031

There is no way for detection without possible mistakes and with a possible stop of the forum... it's a very simple way of adding a costum color (and a nice way), and use all SMF related functions for it.

On my first look through i could assume that you need only to change arround 4 or 5 parts of my code in the Load.php to add a support of the other mod... but to detect if the mod installed i need to use a query on every click only to prevent a stopping forum and i will not do that...

BIG time WOW. THIS PACKAGE RUINED MY FORUMS, IT SAYS COMPATIBLE WITH SMF 2.0 RC3 AND ALL THE TESTS WERE SUCCUESSFUL YET NOW MY FORUMS ARE RUINED. IT SAYS THIS!!!

Template Parse Error!
There was a problem loading the /cache/lang_index+Modifications_english_default.php template or language file. Please check the syntax and try again - remember, single quotes (') often have to be escaped with a slash (\). To see more specific error information from PHP, try accessing the file directly.

You may want to try to refresh this page or use the default theme.

NOT EVEN THE DEFAULT THEME WORKS

Sabre™

First thing you should do is get your caps lock button fixed.
Then go to your 'cache' folder located at the root of your forum(where packages, avatars, attachments folders are) and delete everything within except your index.php and .htaccess files.
Refresh your page.
If that doesn't work, go to your 'packages' folder, then into the backup folder and download the file named something similar to "before_Member Color Link (V3.0.7)"
Upload that to the root of your forum and let it overwrite each folder/template.
This will restore your forum back to its state before you installed this mod, and will get your site back up and running until you get an official response from the author.
Remember to Always make backups of your site atleast once a week.
Good Luck :)
Do NOT give admin and/or ftp details to just anybody, see if they are trust worthy first!!  Do your homework ;)

I can not aggree, that the mod is incompatible... the Mod is full compatible, i tested it yesterday and installed since i made it compatible 6 or 7 times without problems... the only thing that come into my mind a sometime problem with the replacement on some server and i assume it have something to to with the search end function. I would say look into the Modification.english.php and look if there is a mistake to see... like a incomplete replace or anything.

Look if the replace is corrent in the Modifications.english.php
