Is it possible block or stop just one use from sending PM.

mandukar

do u mean so a user can ignore another? if so its in your profile - personal messages options

kappazuhk

No, I have one user that tries to send private messages to other user (like spam). I dont want to just ban him but stop him from being able to send private messages.

mandukar

i think u could create a user group and disable pm's in that user group and give the user it as a primary group.

also theres a warning feature in 2.0 i think that can set the messages so a staff has to aprove them before being sent.

Yes, it can be done. Remind me next week so I can make such a mod.

That would be great babjusi! I thought about the special user group, but he could just creat a new account and start over. I tried to find the approve before send but nothing there, only approve before post.

A mod would be handier in my opinion, than creating a new usergroup for just this setting.

I would need to make some changes to this other mod of mine to achive that, but I would rather wait until 2.0rc2 is out which should be next week or the week after that.

Next week?? or the Week after that??  So the final SMF 2.0 version will be done and released in 1-2 weeks?  Good to know.  Thanks :)

Apologee's for going off topic here.

I didn''t say the 2.0 final but 2.0 rc2. And that was based on a topic started by one of the devs here where the end of summer was given as the accepted release date of 2.o rc2.

SoLoGHoST

Ohh, Ok, yep, sorry bout that, meant to say RC2.

Creating a membergroup and disallowing pm's is very easy.  I am unsure why there is a need for this mod. Please enlighten me.

Long ago, I created a series of membergroups....

nopms
nopost
noextras

etc...

Then disallowed access to certain areas.

Now, I just restrict problem users by adding them to those groups.

I guess if you're constantly needing to change a list of users who can not send pm's (pourquoi?) then this mod is useful.

Personally, I'm hesitant to modify anything if the functionality is already there.

Thanks.
Happily using a heavily modified 1.1.16 version of SMF!

SOLD my website - thanks it was a good run - they converted to vbadvanced. (and screwed it up good!)

I have to agree with digit, what's the point in having a mod if the feature already exists?

Maybe you don''t have a need for this mod, but the op and the other 100 that have downloaded it have. Each its own. If you don''t see the need, don''t use it. Simple as that :)

kappazuhk

Thank you babjusi for your mod. And thank you to every one else for the member group idea as I am on 2.0. I will wait for the mod to support my forum.
