I would rather wait 5 months than have 2.0 final now, with 100+ bugs
I am running 2.0 for about a year on a forum with over 1.2 million messages and don't see any bugs. Well, I reported maybe 3 bugs, but nothing serious. I am pretty sure that SMF 2.0 now and even in past public betas was/is more reliable and stable system than SMF 1.x.

Just because there are 100+ bugs filed against 2.0 doesn't mean that all of those will be closed by 2.0 final. It would be great if they could be, and they might. However, nearly all software has known bugs even when shipping as a final release.

With the final release, you can expect that the bugs will be minor, the software will be solid, and the usability will be the same that SMF is famous for.

Indeed some of the remaining ones aren't bugs per se. More tweaks, improvements, features.

With regards to the level of the bugs (eg blocking ones).  We haven't really used the level too much.  There are few more than would block rc2 release (in addition to core).

I think alot of the current ones (which people can't see atm), are related to the fact we've set curve as the new default, which has caused a few temporary issues. [which is why the bugtracker which was around 115 a while back, has jumped back up]

clapter

Glad to hear that they are only temporary, and i dont know about you all, BUT I CANT WAIT FOR CURVE!!!

Meh. Curve is just a theme. You can make Core look the same if you want too. Now there's a fun weekend project for you.:D

Eliana Tamerin

Curve is a theme, but it goes far more than skin deep. The templates and even the sources have been changed to accommodate the new semantic coding. It should, hopefully, prove much more efficient for templating variations of it in the future.

Yes but the average punters who are salivating over the thing just want the look. They mostly don't know or care about the underlying code.

Smf, smf themes site and other smf theme sites (meaning premium themes) don't have any themes like Curve. Because people don't change all template files. Just make boardindex, index and style css.. Maybe some images and display and messageindex template. But curve completly new theme for smf. Change all color, all menu, all template files.. So curve not just a theme like other smf themes. So you and we can't do we own curve.

Antechinus

Oh yes I can, mate. :D  It would be a lot of work but it's perfectly possible. Of course you'd be mad to try it at this stage.

clapter

Well, maybe for your it is a weekend project... for me it would likely result in my passing out in the gutter and calling the suicide hotline.

Sounds like fun, perhaps I should try this out :P

I'm sure there was actually a theme in the Theme Site that wasn't so far removed from Curve but I can't seem to find it right now.

There was probably one on TP. Although there is something similar aswell i suppose.

Eliana Tamerin

That's because both Curve and reBorn were both designed by Bloc. ;)

No, I wasn't thinking of that theme, I'm thinking of one I saw on the main Theme site a while ago.

Thanks, SiNaN, that is the one I was thinking about, yes :)

I really don't think that's similar to Curve. I mean, Curve isn't the only theme with rounded corners :P

Arantor

*shrug* It kinda looked like Curve to me but I haven't seen it much.

clapter

It does look like curve. But im sure its nothing like it at the same time ;)
