when will the final version of 2.0 come out?

At a guess, final will come after rc2 and rc3.

As for the no. of remaining bugs
http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis/search.php?project_id=1&status_id%5B%5D=10&status_id%5B%5D=20&status_id%5B%5D=30&status_id%5B%5D=40&status_id%5B%5D=50&sticky_issues=on&sortby=last_updated&dir=DESC&per_page=500&hide_status_id=-2
(including private ones, its around 134 at the moment)

Most of which are a pain in the backside ones.  Thankfully team members, beta testers and normal members have been chipping with some debugging and suggested solutions for some.

My eyes just pop'ed out as i saw the bug list.. :P pretty good job i should say! Kudos to the SMF team!!

The bugtracker is public to read, although we haven't really got a big link to it anywhere.

We've also got the bug report graph

I bet the big once would be the urgent patch release or the new SMF version. The frequency of new and resolved bugs are more or less the same. 1 gets solved and another gets created. :)

Its like one door closes and another opens :P

Antechinus

Yeah, exactly. I'm thinking of telling the beta testers to bloody well go on holiday. If the devs don't know about the bugs they wont worry about them and then we can get this thing released. :P

There are only two bugs in that list marked as blockers. That's a very good thing.

I suppose they would if there is some sponsorship. :P

And if members get hacked lately you get this.. -->

clapter

IVe always wondered this..... since they are the first testers.... why arent they called Alpha Testers..... then when it becomes public, or is released to charter members... they are second... so arent THEY the beta testers?

The devs themselves are the alpha testers. When they deem code ready to be properly tested, it's already had some testing - alpha - then it goes to beta testers for testing.

Once it's then been tested and nothing showstopping found, it goes to Charter Members, then a week or so later on general release.

clapter

so if your a charter... you only get a week of being special :(

Arantor

True you get it ahead of everyone else. But... there's more!

You also get priority support from the Support Team in the Charter private board, and also you get one free install per year done by the Support team, and upgrades - though not after mods are installed.

clapter

Not after mods are installed, so basically scratch that feature out ;)

Still, charter member isnt for the features. ITs for showing how much you care about SMF

And priority support :)

Within the regular boards, we ask that things don't get bumped in 24 hours - I don't believe Charter Members usually have to wait that long...

clapter

clapter doesnt need support ;) He breaks things so much that fixing it would break it even more.

It really depends on how the development process is going. There might be times where the charter members get a full private release (as was done with early 1.0 betas and I believe was also with early 1.1 betas), or a much longer lead time.

You still get priority support and support through a private helpdesk for sensitive things even if modifications are installed. We aren't like vBulletin certain paid products where you must remove all tweaks and custom themes before you are provided support.

Good to see there's only two. And it seems like only one affects normal operation/functions, I'd happily use a full install every time just to get the damn thing working immediately. It's an RC, more of  a glorified Beta, it's SUPPOSED to have problems.

Then we just turn those problems over to Aaron and Karl and their crews. :P
Do NOT PM me for support.

The version 1.1.10 is cool, please leave the devs alone.
Devs please take your time and don't let them rush you into releasing unbake scripts.

I totally agree with this. :)

Even though I'd love to see 2.0 final today or tomorrow, I don't think anyone would be happy with a final version with 100+ bugs in it on the long run. ;)

How you can help SMF

Kenny01

It's the same people that are in a hurry to see version 2, that are still going to come here to blow there horn about bugs.

clapter

I would rather wait 5 months than have 2.0 final now, with 100+ bugs like Lex mentioned. We all need to be patient. The devs do this in their free time, for no pay, and what do we give in return? Reporting of more bugs just as soon as they thought they were done   :D
