I would like to upgrade to 1.1.10 from 1.1.4.  I tried using the upgrade capability with the administration area.
This does not seem to work.  The footer on each of the pages on the forums on my site says that I'm still at 1.1.4.
I just moved the SMF software to a new server and I have it working on the new server.

Do I need to go through the manual update of SMF or do I still have an option to do the automated update?

Cheers,
Chuck

Can I upgrade directly to 1.1.10 or do I need to do individual upgrades to get to 1.1.10?

Forgot to add this in original post.

Yes you can, but you will more over loose all the modifications done.

Do you have anything in the error log?

How do I get the error log information to you?  I'm not sure that I want to add it to the forum?
I'm getting a lot of fopen and fclose errors.  There seems to be a permissions problem.
Note that I'm using a Linux server using direct admin.  After the move I'm not sure that I have all the permissions and settings setup properly.  It works but one thing that I noticed is that when I use admin to update the Settings.php file it wipes it out and complains that Settings_bak.php can't be written due to permissions?

Flamer,
What do you mean that upgrading to 1.1.10 will loose all the modifications done?
Would it be better to just uninstall the version that I have and then install 1.1.10.  Does this require DB modifications too?
Sorry for all the questions.  Just trying to get this done.

- The permission problem is because of the file permissions. You will have to change them to 777 or 755 as per your hosting providers settings. As it is done, the patch will add the edits in your files and do the database upgrade for you.

- You will just loose the PHP file edits if you want to go directly into 1.1.10 rather then 1.1.4 to 5 to 6 and then so on..

There is no change in the database structure in the 1.1.x series, although it is better to run a upgrade for it aswell after getting the site onto 1.1.10 directly from 1.1.4

Make sure that you don't delete your "attachments" and "avatars" directory if there are any attachments within. That is one of the area where SMF stores the files. Rest all data is present in the database itself.

You should be able to update one at a time if not through the admin control panel, then by uploading each patch through the package manager.  The update patches are located here:

http://custom.simplemachines.org/upgrades/

There is a database edit included with the patch going from 1.1.8 to 1.1.9.
