The Drafts mod allows your users to save drafts of topics and replies. It is provided as is and will not be developed further. Here is a summary of its features.

  • Adds the 'Save as Draft' button next to the preview button in both full post/reply and quick reply (between preview and spell check if spell check is enabled)
  • Adds an option to Profile > Show Posts (as Profile > Show Posts > Drafts) to view drafts. Note that NO user can see any drafts other than their own.
  • There are no limits on the number of saved drafts per user.
Frequently Asked Questions

  • What version?

    2.0.x including 2.0.12. Don't ask about back-porting. There is a drafts mod for 1.1.x.
    Installs on 2.0 RC3 - RC5 using version emulation.
  • It doesn't save my attachments? Or my calendar events?

No, because as it says when you save a draft, these items are not saved with the draft. Nor are they going to be.
  • Are you going to add support for attachments, calendar events or polls?

    No.
  • Are you going to add a limit to how many drafts a user can have?

    No.
  • Not even for membergroups?

    No.
  • Can you move the link to <somewhere else>?

    No.
  • Can you install it for me because I can't do it myself?

No. We'll help you install it, but we won't do it for you. Any problems, please post in the Small Official Mod Support board on http://www.simpledesk.net.
  • Why is the support thread locked?

Because we're not going to try and support a mod in two places. If you want support, the SimpleDesk Team's Small Official Mod Support board is the place to go.
  • But I want it like <xyz>!

Too bad. We're not developing this mod any further.

I was about to install the old version, but had a look at updated mods and found this.
Thanks and Cheers :)

Stupid question - does this need enabling in the ACP? Just installed it with no errors but the "Save as Draft" button hasnt appeared.

There might be some other nonsense in its place, but not that exact nonsense. If all of science were wiped out, it would still be true and someone would find a way to figure it all out again."

Will this get updated for RC4?

@chilly: The support link you posted doesn't work.

EDIT: works when emulating RC3. Installs fine. Works fine.

I can consider this compatible with RC4.

I did this as well, but I still cannot delete the drafts.

Install file is being reported as empty on RC5.  Downloaded the latest version today.  Still running 2.0.1 on RC5 until this is resolved.  Thanks!

Updated, try the tar.gz file instead

Just installed it and it appears to be working fine!

Great mod, installed and working like a charm. Thanks for sharing this. :)

Lady Night Owl

This is a great, helpful mod - one of my favorites in fact.

I tried to install this on 2.0.1 using the emulator, but it doesn't work properly (profiles become unavailable/white pages)... :\ The rest of it seems to work fine (except for a duplicate 'save as draft' button on the post template - but I can fix that). It's just that, as it is, we can't access our profiles with it installed, which kind of defeats the purpose since there's no "load" button to click to retrieve drafts as we're posting - and of course, we want to be able to access our profiles anyway.

Looking forward to an update when you get a chance. Thanks for the hard work!

Spoogs

Just tested on 2.0.1 and not finding any of the issues you reported.

Can you provide some additional info please?
Is this is fresh install of 2.0.1 or did you upgrade?
If you upgraded, how did you do the upgrade.. from the Package Manager or did you use one of the Download Packages?
Is this happening on the default theme or a custom theme?
IF you have 2 drafts button it would seem the code was duplicated... did you do any manual edits to install the mod?

Will provide an updated package soon.

Of course.

Quote from: Spoogs on September 30, 2011, 04:58:46 PMIs this is fresh install of 2.0.1 or did you upgrade?

I upgraded from 2.0 (which was a fresh install).

Quote from: Spoogs on September 30, 2011, 04:58:46 PMIf you upgraded, how did you do the upgrade.. from the Package Manager or did you use one of the Download Packages?

One of the download packages (I had forgotten that I could have done it via the Package Manager).

Specifically, I downloaded and used the "small upgrade" package since we had some mods installed.

Quote from: Spoogs on September 30, 2011, 04:58:46 PMIs this happening on the default theme or a custom theme?

Both. The custom theme is based on Inferno by Dziner Studio.

Quote from: Spoogs on September 30, 2011, 04:58:46 PMIF you have 2 drafts button it would seem the code was duplicated... did you do any manual edits to install the mod?

Right. I used the Package Manager to install the mod. The only manual edit I had to do was afterward, to get rid of the duplicated code. No worries because it might have been due to trying to reinstall the mod and thus, most likely not an error on your part.

Excellent, thanks!
