6 Custom buttons / tabs and menu's (upto 4)

Hello John, congratulations for your very nice and useful MOD that you made.
Actually i want to install it and i get an error at:
/Sources/ManageSettings.php
What do you suggest me to do?

I like this mod very much, but I have one small issue. I just installed it on a new forum, and used it to link t the Unread posts page.

However, the menu says that I am on the "Home" tab instead of the tab that it is supposed to be on (Unread)

I have attached an image to show what I mean (I am using the theme, 5th, which is basically the default Curve theme with a different color scheme (for the most part)

Is their any way to change the following code to have the button open a new page?

For those with the undefined index errors, check the language files, modifications.english.php, if the edits are not there add them then clear your cache, if they are there, clear your cache.

Feedback:

I also had these same errors appearing in the error log. Like many others I've been checking the files for hours.

Happy to say that clearing the cache worked for me

go to the mod link http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2657 and then under the download mod area, you can find this "Manual Install Instructions for SMF".

select the smf version that you are using and then click parse. it will show all the necessary edits.

you can install the mod ignoring the error and then do the manual edit for just /Sources/ManageSettings.php and remember that you need to do the manual edit also for uninstalling.

i dont think you can add more pages. instead you can uninstall that mod and try this mod.

Is there any other theme that will work beside curve theme templates? The forum version that I am using is 2.0 RC3...

Nice mod this but I don't really need 6 buttons.

Is there anyway to increase more menu's per button? I would rather use 1 or 2 buttons with 10 menu's each max.

Hi thanks for the mod. It's really handy.  I also second the request to be able to select items that open in a new window

Is this possible yet?   I only need to add 2 external links and I'm willing to change the code manually to open these links in external windows "target=blank" is the functionality I'm looking for.

Hi!

First, thanks for this mod!  My problem is that the buttons only seem to be visible when you ware logged in.  I believe that this is a permission change in the code.  Is there anyway to accomplish this with this mod installed?  I'd like to have links to a couple of related sites that I have visible at all times whether the user is logged in or not.

i do believe you answered your own question there! it is a permission thing, on mine i got it set in permissions,, admin/permissions/general permissions and under guests - Custom Button Permissions  i got it set to show to this group and they appear all the time logged in or not, but i suppose this may not work if you have your guest permissions set so guests cannot view in the 1st place.. Only a suggestion but give it a try

Yes, that is it!  I was thinking a more complex route of actually modifying the code to set permissions.  I actually did find this  mods code.  There are some good tutorials here to add buttons manually that lead me to that point.  This mod is likely a better way to go for most no matter your knowledge level.  This is a very well designed mod!  This permission info should maybe be in the set up instructions though.

I see some others asked this before but is it possible to open links with target=" _blank" ? We're using your mod for external links. I want to keep our website in the browser screen and open the external link in a new browser.

Hi, i am trying too install this mod on my 1.1.11 forum but i am having a problem. I am following your instructions to manually install in on 1.1.11 but when you say to find a line non of them seem to exist.

Example:

./Sources/Admin.php

FIND: // Note the comma!! The setting with automatically appear with the first mod to be added.

^That is not there, and neither is a lot of the other ones.
Any help at all would be very appreciated.
