Apologies for what is probably a dumb question, but being an absolute greenhorn when it comes to forums I'd rather be safe than sorry. I successfully upgraded from RC4 to RC5 today and all seems to be functioning normally. In phpMyAdmin I see the upgrade process created a backup of every table - backup_smf_boards, backup_smf_categories etc. Since the forum is functioning without any problems is it safe to delete these backup tables?

Yes it is if you are good with your rc5 forum they are safe to delete.
