I've recently been "elevated" to ... well, for lack of a better word, because I have some computer skills (and presumably the good sense to ask questions when I'm floundering about haplessly) let's just say I've been made the Montgomery Scott of a web forum without being the head honcho.

Obviously if we're using SMF 1.1.11 we're a bit behind the times. I've tried to use the SMF update tools but I get shot down. Upon attempting to update via the Package Manager, I get this:

If I  attempt to go ahead past this point, my web browser pops up this warning message: "Are you sure you wish to continue installing this modification, even though it will not install successfully?"

At that point I just back off.

From something that was said, I think it's possible that one of the actual admins started the update process, saw a bunch of things being downloaded and stopped in a panic.

What steps do I need to take to get this to work?

Illori

you will need to manually install the mod, follow directions here but parse the mod on the download page Manual Installation of Mods

I recommend manually install now and forever

Hi Foster Grant, have you been able to update yet - or do you need further assistance?

Yeah, we got it. Manual hacking did the job. Thanks, Illori and S.B.

We're on to finding a CAPTCHA alternative now.

Nice :) I'll just tick the solved button then ;)
