Hi.
I have a smf board hosted on hostgator shared account. Hostgator shared servers do not have PHP opcode caches available.
As i understand if the script doesnt find any accelerators, it does file based chaching. I enabled the cache some time ago, but the script doesnt cache anyting...it should be a cache folder under main directory, i think.

So what is to be done to make smf cache ? the host is asking me to enable the cache (due to server load), but i did enabled it long time ago ... on Level 1.

Can anybody please give me some ideas ?

1.x does not even do file caching out of the box, never has. You would need to grab the mod for it (Custom Caching, I think it's called) or upgrade to 2.0.

As for the other options, HostGator doesn't support any of them as far as I know.

Ok thanks. I wasnt able to find any Custom Caching mod.
I found some .htaccess cache mod that requires 3 other mods that i couldnt find on the Mod site...so i think i`ll upgrade to 2.0 or move it to another host.

Thanks for your reply.

I did say I *thought* that was what it was called. If in doubt try slightly different names... http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=2515 is the one.
