MrGrumpy

OK is it the banner above the header you are having the problem with - you want that banner to fit all resolutions from small to large?

unlimitedexcursion

yes sir that is exactly it..any help would be greatly appreciated!

MrGrumpy

What I would do is make your banner wider and then have it centered and hide the overflow on lower resolution screens.

Basically make a new image 2300px wide x 320px high and make it black and place your banner in the center, so there is excessive black either side.

Then theres a bit coding needs doing, I had something similar on a site i used to have.

I added a new class in the index.template.php for the logo then added some css that would center the image and hide the excess (hidden overflow).

I actually placed mine inside the header itself, which with bit of tweeking of your banner you could do it that way too instead of having it above the header.

Something more like this might be what you're looking to do?
<div align="center" style="width:100%; background:#000"><img border="0" src="http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/8411/uegoblinheaderredeyesre.jpg" /></div>I'm guessing the image being on imageshack is a temporary thing, eh?

i have your code in my header...i am not really seeing a change...does it take time to set it or am i missing something?

mashby

Maybe Control F5 a page or two. Looks OK on my end.

on my end it looks good in all resolutions but 800x600 looks pretty bad...is that to be expected??
its perfect is all others after it kicked up aside form that.....so i appreciate the help so far...i could live with it how it is...its much better...

mashby

Yeah, it's going to look rather interesting (bad) on a 800X600 screen. How many users do you have using that screen size? I can't imagine too many, but what do I know. You could consider resizing your image to be 700 pixels wide though.

very true i doubt many if any will be using that resolution...and i will also look into changing the size of the banner...but the code seems to be perfect for what i wanted and i thank you...

mashby

You're welcome. And I really think a smaller header image is in order even with your wider screen users. At the moment, that banner takes up most of the vertical space on my monitor. Making it smaller lifts the forum/page content up to a more visible area on page load.

unlimitedexcursion

and you think 700 wide would be optimal???
