Will SMF have this or will it have to be a mod like with YabbSE?

David

Already built in as seen on this site. ;)

I think this topic can be moved to "Declined or Applied Requests" ;)

I'll do it eventually... unless you want to volunteer, I think I trust you enough I could give you moderator privileges here...

Thanks! Sorry about that... It was a mod on YabbSE and I didn't even see the option in my profile on here lol.

Wow, I just looked at the profile section and I was amazed! you have so many more options than YabbSE 1.5.4! It's even organized too!

Can you edit the "default aviatar sets" as an admin?

Tyris

As far as I know the avatar sets are just folders...
so put a folder in avatars called "Games" and fill it with game related avatars... and that will become a Category in the avatar chooser ^.^
It basically just reads all the folders and avatars out of the avatar directory.

I'd like a way to turn on the Quick Reply for everyone really... but at least it's there :)

That is an awesome feature!  I am so glad that I read this thread and found out about it!

just make a switch for it in admin, then find and modify the string in your sourcecode that loads quickreply (e.g. <? global $modsettings,$turnonquickreplyforall; if ($turnonquickreplyforall == 1) { load quickreply; }
else { load reqular options; };?>).

Tyris

yeah... but we want to be able to change the users profile setting (what you suggested would make the setting useless)... I'd just like for it to default to on.

Anguz

you could mod the code to create an account, to set that option to 'on'

I already plan a way to "turn it on for everyone" but it's not that... it's a lot cleaner.

Is there a way to quote the last message when quick-replying?  Also, if there is, is tehre a way to guarantee that the message your quoting is the last one on your screen, in case someone posts after the page is drawn?

[Unknown]

Why would you want to do that?  Then if someone posts something else, and you are responding to someone else's post, you look like an idiot.

Maybe I wasn't being clear.  I meant that if there existed an option to quote the last message in a quick reply, it should quote the message at the end of the page that was just drawn.  That way, if someone posts while you are still typing, it doesn't quote the wrong message.

hrm..  That's still a convoluted way of trying to say whatever it is I'm trying to say.

The main question was as to whether or not it's even possible to automatically quote the previous message while quick replying in the first place.
