How do I stop receiving "critical security patches released" emails ?

go to http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?action=profile;area=notification  and uncheck this option:  Receive forum newsletters, announcements and important notifications by email.

Indeed you can stop them, but those emails serve a purpose. Security patches are not released for nothing of course :)

I suppose if you don't use the software any more you might not want to be nudged to upgrade. If you do still use SMF though I highly recommend remaining subscribed.
